How about these?...

The Stylistics - I Can't Give You Anything But My Love
Diana Ross - Love Hangover
Spice Girls - Stop
Duffy - Mercy
Justin Timberlake - Suit & Tie

But you just know they'll go for the most obvious. Zzzzzz
The last 3, Motown?

I would love to see someone do Billy Joel's anthonys song.

I don't think they would ever do it justice buy they could try.

The best I've ever seen is Phillip Phillip's on idol

Is it some kind of rule that every year on The X Factor somebody has to sing She's Out of My Life and somebody has to sing Who's Loving You?

I would like Freddy to sing Stevie Wonder's Knocks Me off My Feet.
That's one of my favourite songs so not sure I want to hear anyone murder it on XF tbh

It's one of mine too. You may have a point. No one can sing it like Stevie.

I posted this in the other thread but I'll update it with 4OD:

Gifty - Be My Baby (The Ronettes)
Sam - Who's Loving You (Jackson 5)
Emily - Where Did Our Love Go (The Supremes)

Relley C - Road Runner (Junior Walker & The All Stars)
Saara - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me (The Supremes)
Honey G - ?????????????????????

Ryan - My Girl (The Temptations)
Matt - I Heard It Through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye)
Freddy - What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted (Jimmy Ruffin)

5am - Dancing In The Street (Martha Reeves & The Vendellas)
4 Of Diamonds - Keep Me Hangin' On (The Supremes)

I don't think they will allow that .. it's going to be the same 10 songs we have cleared...so new Motown songs are not eligible in a Motown theme...in any singing show that has this theme...
I feel like I point this out every year and it falls on deaf ears but...

You don't need clearance to perform cover versions of songs. Anyone can perform anything, the XF just needs to pay the due performance fee to the publishers of the song which is true whether it's the 100th rendition of a Whitney warble-fest or an obscure Gang Of Four b-side from 1979.

The only thing that would *potentially* make that not true would be 1/changing the lyrics significantly or 2/changing the melody significantly.

That the XF's songbook is apparently so limited is their choice and nothing to do with licensing.

Ah, they've been deleted now. Somebody claiming to be at rehearsals said Four of Diamonds were practicing Keep Me Hangin' On.

Thanks

I wondered if Honey G could do a rap version of 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours'

At this juncture, seeing that others have predicted it on here also, I'd like to point out that I predicted a mash up of 'Super Freak' and 'You Can't Touch This' for Honey G immediately after Sunday's show had ended in the live thread.

Also I predict 'Stop, hammer time' will become 'Stop, honey time'

As for the others, I have no idea. Though I wouldn't be at all surprised if a dreary John Lewis-ified version of Tears Of A Clown pops up by someone Terrible Worthy (the blond boy, perhaps. I forget his name)

Why perform an originally slow song when you can take a fast one and sloooow it dowwwwn to little appreciable effect apart from leveraging a spurious claim to creativity?

I think you're forgetting the X Factor's MO

OK - Emily could sing My Guy by Mary Wells; just to suit the Louis Walsh's on here.

From my original list, Please Mr. Postman by The Marvelettes would actually work well for Gifty (especially the Saturday's cover version). I'm not changing Honey G as anything which would work for her is a sample rather than straight cover anyway.
Scrap this - Four of Diamonds can have Please Mr. Postman.

100's of classic Motown songs to choose from and some will still end up doing Dancing On The Ceiling.

It's not, but I think that is what Motown theme implies ..
I agree with Kenneth, Motown is an era. Regardless of who's signed to the motown records. I have many motown compilation albums, and they're all roughly the same people (jackson 5, diana ross/supremes, smokey etc)

Here are mine, please post any thoughts

Saara – It Should Have Been Me (Yvonne Fair)
Relley C – I'm Still Waiting (Diana Ross)
Honey G – ABC (Jackson 5)
Freddy – Do You Love Me? (The Contours)
Ryan – My Destiny (Lionel Richie)
Matt – Sir Duke (Stevie Wonder)
Sam – My Guy (Mary Wells)
Emily – Please Mr Postman (The Marvelettes)
Gifty – What's Going On? (Marvin Gaye)
5 After Midnight – In The Midnight Hour (Wilson Pickett)

xxxx
lol i could imagine Honey G changing ABC lyrics into:

"A-B-C
It's easy as
HONEY G, as simple as
Do Re Mi, A-B-C, Honey G....."

The last 3, Motown?
Yes, they each have a distinct Motown style.
