I've got a friend who has met him and she said he was willing to wait for her to phone her mum to so she could speak to him.
He was very down to earth apparently.

I find him very likeable and the show isn't the same without him.

True the chemistry between the judges is great to watch. Especially Sharon and Nicole.
Probably the best judging panel of the last few years. Louis is not on the same planet, Sharon is absolutely bonkers, Nicole is excellent as ever and mad and Simon is just Simon.

Nice guy maybe, but not much idea about what good music is.

okay but the dire acts? yes until judges houses it seemed a watchable series but then the best people were cut off.. can't just watch for the panel

I was loving this year and the chemistry between the judges - right up until judges' houses when the talent got sent home and the cannon fodder and utter dross was given a place in the live shows. Possibly the weakest line up the show has ever had.

Sharon's choices were dire but Louis was off the scale insane with his top three.

I remember seeing mr Walsh in ,g,a,y in the Astoria,he wasn't nice to any people except the army of young boys he had with him

Really, I've heard from lots of people that he is not a nice person at all, and to me he shows his true colours when he talks to the press.

I know people who have met him and said he is horrible which in no way surprised me. His horribleness shows clearly when he is been interviewed as he always runs people down. Most of the acts he has managed he has falling out with and he always tells stories about his acts.

He is seen as a joke but i think he regards himself as a highly respected figure which makes him deluded.

I think he seems like a catty little bitch, he slags everyone off constantly in interviews and to the press, that to me does not say 'genuinely nice guy'. Honest, yes, but not nice.

He comes as across nice sometimes, but does have a nasty streak. He said he gloated when he heard the viewing figures for XF were way down last year when he wasn't on the judging panel.

Ah, the spotting Louis Walsh in G.A.Y with a gaggle of young twinks thing was, for a while, a rite of passage for young British homosexuals.

I met him once (though not at G.A.Y). He came across as pompous and rather self-important. Though I would hesitate to call him nasty he certainly wasn't nice.

Care to elaborate on your experience with him? Did you meet him in person, and what did he say/do that gave you the opinion that he was pompous/"wasn't nice"?

On the surface, he seems ok to me. He was more funny in the earlier shows, now he's a bit more dull. But I think he seemed genuinely upset that he couldn't put through Four Of Diamonds initially (since producers apparently pressured him into picking the joke act instead).

It was in a professional capacity. And no, before anyone makes the obvious joke, not that kind of profession.

His behaviour could perhaps best be described as 'entitlement' i.e. he did the whole 'don't you know who I am?' thing. He's not the nastiest celeb I met in that particular role but he's certainly not the nicest.


I think he comes across ok on the XF, like a slightly bumbly uncle, and it works well in the context of the show (i.e. you kind of need someone bringing that corniness). But it's not how I found him to be in person at all.

This just sounds like you have a bit of an issue with him to be honest. Sounds bitter.

I've met him a couple of times and he was a delight both times. I never saw him being rude to anyone - quite the opposite actually, he was very eager to please and happy to have photos with anyone.

He always comes off quite smug and bitchy to me.

NONE of them make any choices... that's the whole point. They fill the hired role as "judge" , but this is primarily a prime time entertainment show and producers make EVERY decision as to who goes through and who doesn't. They have to get that balance of great singers to keep it credible, along with the bonkers ones to keep that entertainment and controversy factor going.

I think Danni Minogue was much better than either Sharon or Nicole, even preferred Cheryl to these two also. Louis shouldn't of been brought back, he has shown he really doesn't know who sounds good and his ears can't be hearing what everyone else hears, he also says yes to everyone in the first auditions, really don't see what he's actually judging.

I met him in a club in Dublin after a Kylie gig. He slagged Kylie off and then started on Dannii even though he had been in the papers that week saying he missed her as she was on maternity at the time. Even though he was nice to my face, he came across as really bitchy and nasty

I love Louis character and I've always said he has to be on the show - but being himself in interviews he always sounds too bitchy.
