Did anyone notice that the Oor Wullie and the Broons strips in last Sunday's edition were reprints of 1980s strips, updated with new speech bubbles and captions?

Neither had the PD initials which usually appear in the bottom right corner of the final frame of each strip - the Oor Wullie strip also had a rather decidedly eighties-looking telly in one of the frames. This one appeared to be the work of John Polland who drew both Oor Wullie and the Broons between 1984 and 1989, while the Broons one was from Peter Davidson's first stint as these strips' illustrators between 1979 and 1984.

Other than a somewhat absurd assumption that the Sunday Post must be trying to save money by rehashing old strips and updating them, I wonder if there is a more serious reason behind this weekends' reruns. The last time I'm aware of reprints being used for these strips was for several years from 1969, after the sudden death of Dudley D Watkins.

Reason was artist changeover. Diego Jourdan Pereira has taken over. Davidson must've pulled out suddenly for some reason.
