EE - Matriarchs
Pauline, Pat, Peggy, Lou. All strong female matriarchs and involved in some big plots. But now Claudette, Pam and Babe are all going it only really leaves Dot in this role.
Are Matriarchs still important to the show as they used to be? Are there any characters in the show you consider to be matriarchs or future matriarchs? Are there any matriarchs (still alive) who you would like to see return? |

Sharon and Linda are probably being lined up as the next matriarchs. I would also like to see Kathy in that role too.

Sharon is a matriarch dying to come out the closet.

Always though Kat would become a matriarch over her own clan one day.

I think matriarchs do still have a role especially within family units, I feel Stacey could be the new Fowler matriarch as it's a role that suits her. It's always good to have that much Person with an array of life experience dishing out their pearls of wisdom to other people. When Dot eventually leaves, the square will be left without one and I would like to see Patrick become the new pattiarch

There seems to have been a shift to males being more dominant in families... Phil, Mick, Patrick and Vincent being the obvious ones. Maybe the days of the hen pecked husband are over.😁

We can predict the obvious ones but I think Shirley and Stacey will be strong/dominant matriarchs in future.

I think it's clearly that they're making Sharon, Shirley, Linda and Kathy the next batch, possibly Jane as well.

I think Lady Di would be a great matriarch, once she kills Mick and Linda off in this year's shocking xmas episodes. The Lovely Sue Tully told me this while browsing for a new folder in WH Smith.

Kat would have been the one to really fit the bill, it's the type of role I think Jessie Wallace will move into in the next 10 years whether that's for EastEnders or something else.
Nobody else seems an obvious choice for me. |

Sharon, Kat, Stacey, Denise and Jane have it all in them to be great Matriarchs.

Sharon is nothing but a scrounger, throwing herself at any Mitchell who will have her.
Thanks. |

I don't think the Carters will last long enough for Linda to be Matriarch, but if I am wrong it'll be Shirley.
Sharon is already a Matriarch. Stacey to me has taken on the Matriarch role. I think Jane is tougher than Kathy in the sense of would would be a better Matriarch. Denise could be given a bigger Matriarch role, so could Carmel if they make her Character bigger and bolder. Kat, Bianca and Tanya would all be a Matriarch figure if they returned in the future. |

Matriarchs are old fashioned and do not have a place in the modern world.
Maybe back when families all lived together under one roof but not anymore. |

Cora could have been if she had been written differently and her daughters had stayed.
Bryan Kirkwood brought her in as a replacement for Peggy. Sharon is the next one in waiting really. What the Show is missing is a Patriarch although Patrick probably owns that right. |

Matriarchs are seen as tough but generally caring but 'Family' comes before everything. Potential Matriarchs- Sharon, Kat, Linda, Carmel, Missed Opportunities- Cora, Shirley Too Weak- Kathy Currently- Dot Legends- Peggy, Pat, Pauline, Lou, |
