Could Lee just walk out of the Square like Frank did in the 90's? Depression could cause it?

I'm not saying Lee is like Frank or anything along those lines, just think it's a decent explanation and can easily bring him back?

I'd rather that than a suicide, to be honest.

I'm wavering between him committing suicide at Christmas/New Year to raise awareness of the increased rate we see at this time of the year, or him simply disappearing, as you've said in this post. Either would be very sad to watch but my preference would be for him disappearing simply because it would leave the door open for a return later down the line.

And Linda could go to look for him for her exit?

Yes I rather they do this storyline idea. I don't think we need another suicide storyline so soon after Peggy.

It was the first thing I thought of when we first heard he was leaving and I still like the idea. That or going off with one of his soldier friends to become a mercenary.

Here's my own idea

Lee has a mental down breakdown and through the support of Whitney and his family, he checks himself into a psychiatric unit. Lee's last scene is a final goodbye with his family. A few months, The Carters are told that Lee is ready to leave the unit and they prepare for his return home. In true carter style, they have a party in the vic, a guest appearance from Elaine and some karaoke. However, Lee doesn't arrive home and they discover he left a note at the psychiatric unit which says he needs to be alone for an unspecified amount of time and that he won't be returning home.

Actually that's a bit unfair of me, I thought she was fine during her last stint. I guess this forum's hatred of her has rubbed off on me.

I really hope he doesn't commit suicide. He's the one axing I'm not pleased about (in a sense I'm gutted about Ronnie going too, but they've messed up her character so much). Fingers crossed they somehow leave the door open for a return.

I wonder if Lee's exit might not be related to his depression?

Maybe he gets a job working overseas linked to his military background suggested by his army pals who come for the wedding. Whitney goes with him but returns shortly after saying they broke up or it did not work out

I just get a feeling that SOC won't do something too dark with Lee and leave the door open for him to return

The problem with him disappearing is the inevitable months of Deeply Stupid Mick, who has the emotional maturity of an avacado, just repeating the same tired crap episode after episode.

Also I'm afraid I simply cannot allow Elaine to come back for any reason.

Thanks.

Maybe he could go to prison for murdering Elaine in an extremely brutal fashion? Win-win.

I like it, but it would take a cruel and merciless judge to put anyone in prison for killing Elaine.

You've just summed up why Mick is such a rubbish character. I don't think EE have ever had a character who is repetitive as him. He has had zero development in the entire 3 years he has been on the show. Its just the same old scenes almost every week. If it wasn't Danny Dyer playing him people would be calling for Mick's axing. Even the likes of Minty offered more to the show.

It would add plausibility to the storyline though. If there's one thing that would seal the deal for anyone to go awol it would be the prospect of granny Elaine waiting for you with a microphone in her hand..

This. Unless it's Jane or Mick. Sooner they are off the show the better.

Shakil is a much better characater than Mick. He brings more to the show. Dexter even brought more to the show. If I seriously think both of those awful characters offer more....it seriously is concerning. Also dyers ego pees me off big time. He should be axed. Killed off in a fire with Elaine. Thanks.
