OpenElec / Kodi
I am wondering if anyone is familiar with OpenElec. A friend has asked me to install Kodi on and Acer Aspire R3700. I installed OpenElec and it went on easily. I installed repos and set it all up only to find there is no sound
![]() I have no experience of OpenElac or Linux and have no idea how to install sound drivers (if that's what it needs) I can't see the equivalent of control panel /device manager to see what drivers it has or needs. Can anyone point me the right direction please |

Not satellite related and DS are not keen on KODI related discussions.
Maybe look or ask on the OpenELEC forum - http://openelec.tv/forum/index |

Thanks Evo102 thanks for the link. I've tried the OpenElec forum and I haven't had anyone respond. The guys on here are helpful and I was hoping for a stear on how to get the sound drivers on this Acer R3700 so I can get it back and crossed of my list of TTD.
I've put several repos on, what he chooses to install will be up to him, I'm sure it will be the FTA stuff and youtube. |

Settings, System, audio output.
Make sure the output device is set correctly. I had a 3700 and it works out of the box with a fresh openelec install. Also try the newer LibreElec.... same software different name. Can this thread be moved to online services |

Thank you so much Chris123. I found Settings, System, audio output and found the right output, all is working well and I can hand it back.
Again, thanks for your very kind reply. |

Maybe look or ask on the OpenELEC forum - http://openelec.tv/forum/index I agree that any discussion on illegal streams should be discouraged but Kodi itself should be discussed if it offers people an opportunity to manage their home media better. |

Kodi is one of the best media management systems around. Plays virtually any file you throw at it, can play any media from an external drive such as WD Cloud without the need of a server running on a separate computer like Plex, Emby have to do and yes there are problems with illegal streams but for many Kodi offers an opportunity to build a media management system for music, entertainment and photos that in my opinion is hard to beat. There are many in the computer audiophile forum who use Kodi to implement "official" add ons, apps and players for high quality audio.

You're preaching to the choir, but regrettably DS has demonstrated previously that the nuances of Kodi as a media player and as a tool for 'illegal' streams isn't something they are capable of understanding/they want to moderate.
Moderators can moderate but when people seek solutions, I will still promote Kodi as that solution. Obviously not for illegal strams. |
