What a shame. I am sorry, I was really interested in what he'd dance and how he'd get on in the various dances. More importantly I hope he and his loved ones are all OK. Shame for Karen too.

Seems fair and likely- I was just sad to see Tameka go

And they have a built-in buffer zone of having a 3-couple final as previous. Not a biggie really.

It would be better for him if he gave a reason - even a made up one. Leaving a vaccum leads, inevitably, to speculation.

Shocked that Will has left, hope he's alright.

Cynically, I bet Louise Rainbow and the producers are loving all of this press interest, which there has been a lot of this year!”

Much prefer 3-person finals.

I'm lurking a bit here . . . please be nice:

So by chance i've seen Will Young perform twice in the last year. Once was at a Radio 2 concert in Hyde Park and the other was at one of the 'party in the paddock' things at Newbury racecourse. Obviously both were very short sets - but both times he seemed extremely uninterested in being there and show little enthusiasm on stage. He did that thing where he started changing the lyrics and rhythm of the songs, presumably because he was bored of singing them. At the Newbury racecourse gig he actually came out in a pair of cut off and t-shirt, as though he had just rolled out of bed.

So not surprised.

Has there ever been a drop out this early though?
Yes it's filmed on Monday.

Why?
We know all - probably more - than we have any right or need to.

Some like to speculate- but not everyone falls for that human failing.

That's more or less what I said earlier. I have followed his career as a fan and also because he lives fairly near to where I used to live. I think he has a lot of personal problems at present and may feel that he simply cannot handle the stresses of Strictly. As I said, I have been concerned about him for while. After Cabaret and failing to get the Voice gig, he took two years out and I hoped he might come back stronger but things don't look good. Something is amiss.

The DM has his full statement on leaving

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...hock-exit.html

It's split throughout the article so I can't copy it all but this is just one sentence to give you the feel of it

'Unfortunately, I am leaving the show for personal reasons. I leave with joy in my heart that I have been able to take part in one of the most loved shows on British television.

I find it hard to be interested in anything else when I'm on coke. I have too much fun snorting the bubbles up my nose.

Maybe he got caught by a fake sheikh, saying he would throw the Strictly semi-final for a jacuzzi and a lifetime of bubbles or something, or got caught eating one of the runners (probably not beans)

He doesn't HAVE to do anything. He can simply retire and say absolutely nothing if that's what he wants.

But...

If he wants to keep his career afloat, speaking as a PR person, he needs to say something.

'I have found a creative partnership with Karen that has been the most wonderful thing to experience.
'I will be eternally grateful to her for her direction, talent and guiding me through three wonderful dances that I will be able to show my grandkids in years to come.

Glad that he made a gracious comment about Karen. Very thoughtful.

Im so disappointed that Will has gone. I have always been a fan, loved his dry wit etc and was really enjoying him in Strictly. He seemed to have been enjoying himself so i really hope he is ok

The Sun did too before it was announced, press must of had a time to release the news;

To be a part of Strictly has been a long time ambition of mine. As a performer, a viewer, and a fan of the show, to dance as a contestant was an experience I always hoped for.

“I have made some great friends, and am in awe of their performances week in, week out. I have found a creative partnership with Karen that has been the most wonderful thing to experience.

“I am so grateful to everyone who works on Strictly from the lighting designer to catering to the production team. Strictly truly is the most unique family and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

And finally thank you to the BBC for supporting me throughout my journey. I wish my compatriots so much luck, and although I am back to being a viewer again, I’m certainly going to ‘keeeep dancing’!”

Commercially, a really silly statement, all new age/and other-worldly. And what grandkids?

A simple statement saying something reasonably concrete is all it would have taken. Walking out on the BBC's flagship light entertainment programme is what you might call career limiting.

Anastacia should withdraw for a laugh, that would really give the producers some problems.

On a more positive note, no full Clifton reunion in the final and no more backlash for the elimination of the black celebs (it skips a beat now).
