£180? They're £49.99 aren't they?
Some retailers/Ebay sellers are marking up the price due to the lack of supply and high demand.

Judging by how popular this has been it looks to be a license to print money.
Don't under estimate the power of nostalgia.

They are 49.99 yes but some dirty sellers on Amazon/eBay are trying to rip people off
just because they're out of stock everywhere

And Nintendo has said more stock will be released before Christmas.

Where did you hear that?
Just some people online saying that's what their local shop told them.

Gotcha. There's a lot of hearsay flying around over these things. Happens a lot.

Id never buy one. I could use roms on my pc and if I wanted to play it on a TV id just buy a cheap original nes on ebay.

Or an RiPi3 with a Retropie build. Does the job. Chraper, too, depending on components.

You try and buy a 'cheap' original NES on ebay with all the games included in the mini and it'll cost a rocket.

The Donkey Kong cart on it's own is priced at £45-55 unboxed on ebay, though god knows if they actually get that for it.

The nes mini is clearly aimed at people who wouldn't or couldn't set a Raspberry Pi up to their tv.

A lot of retro Nintendo/video game collectors are buying them to just to have one in their collection.

Thing is, it's really not difficult at all to set up and use Retropie now, especially on the Pi3. Mini Nes though, admittedly, is fire and forget. No setup necessary but you pay your money and you're locked in.

A cheap original nes is currently 70-80 quid on eBay/Amazon. Add on the games which can be pricey depending on how rare they are. You could be a good 400-500 quid minimum to get all the 30 games on the mini nes. far more pricey than the 180 quid that the mini nes is going for. I'd just rather wait till more stock comes available and pay 50 quid for the mini nes

Only because these little shits charge stupid prices on ebay and flood the markey with over pricing things. Its a old game and it isnt rare, while companies dont make the games anymore they are old for a reason.

If I had one wish id abolish all these rip off sellers from charging those prices, back in 2002 you could buy things for like a fiver whereever you went but now people just shove the price up at bootsales because of ebay and these resellers who are only out there to make profit and not for a love of the actual games.

Its quite disguisting when you look at common games like Mario 3 sold everywhere and they charge 20 quid for the game boxed. Something like that shouldnt be over a fiver.

For a Original NES you need a CRT TV to get the best results out of them.

You might also want to get a NTSC machine and games to avoid the PAL slowdown problem. The Mini NES has the American releases so it not a problem with it.

You will find this happens with any that becomes rare. It's just way it works.

Why anyone is buying this is beyond me. I could possibility understand if it could emulate lot of different platforms, as it's able to. Even then a PC or tablet made last couple years can emulate dozens of platforms. you can even emulate the WII U now on high spec PC.

20 quid? Try 40 game in box for Mario 3. That's how much cex is charging for it when I saw it last week

You have to think about fakes as well.

It's the ease of use. Just plug it in and it works. No fuss or hassle searching for roms. It's 49.99 price point is far cheaper than the current virtual console price for the games separately. It's also got the option of playing in 3 different ratios and it looks better than it has ever done in pixel perfect mode. Its also makes you reminiscent of your childhood if you owned 1. As much as other emulators have more going for them none actually have the authentic feel of actually having a console in front of the TV with pretty much the same look as the original console and controler (but actually smaller)

No one should be paying 40 quid for something that came out 3 decades ago. Thats disguisting!

It's called supply and demand.

Don't watch Antiques Roadshow. It will make you really cross.

I have a copy of Snatcher on Sega Mega CD. (22 years old) There's one in an eBay auction right now.... £484 with 9 hours still to go.

As I said earlier there is a NES Game that sold for $41.300 (£34.120) few years ago.

I've heard of others going for $20.000+ to.

Exactly. Prices aren't high because of "little shits" ripping people off as some seem to think. It's because people are willing to pay large amounts of money for items that are freely available.

Its like corgi toys though. Millions were produced but It's pretty rare though to find it in its box which ups the value of it. The price of It also depends on the current market. 10 -15 years ago you couldn't give it away but in 2016 retro gaming is in. It maybe just a 30 year old game but to collectors it's a collectable antique. Also many of the people after these games weren't even alive when the nes/snes/n64 etc was being produced. To them it's a new game.
