I picked one up in homebase on Friday so they are out there. We were shopping for tiles and noticed they had an argos in store. Lo and behold they had 2 left.

Honestly though. Apart from the controller nostalgia, I prefer hooking the laptop to the telly and playing with an emulator.
The controller lead is way too short imo.

I might hold on to it or I may put it on ebay.

Argos is currently in stock and I've just ordered it from there. Can't pick it up till Thursday though. Might as well cancel my order from Amazon Spain then.

I ended up selling mine for £75 to get a custom xbox controller. I felt bad but looking at the prices now, they could easily sell it on for a profit.

This is still incredibly out of stock everywhere. Just odd ones coming in. Coming in from where ? Do Argos find one now and again down the side of a lorry ?

It's a complete mess how can Nintendo mess up so badly Amazon still don't seem to have filled their pre-orders yet. I got mine delivered from Amazon on release day but I am looking to get a Mini Famicom without paying the scalper prices.

Nintendo get more to stores so we can buy at decent prices.

I think Argos like selling faulty returned items, I've bought quite a few things from them with the package already opened and damaged or not in new condition.

Stock wise I think it's generally the fact it's niche market, no one could expect a big demand for this product. It would of been an unwise business decision to make tonnes of these, as there was big chance of it flopping hard.

Even the raspberry pi when they expected huge demand couldn't keep up, I'm sure that was out of stock for months. For some reason everyone likes jump on Nintendo but in reality this is not uncommon for this sort of market at all.

I was wondering this other day, are shops allowed to this ? Bought couple things from BM bargains both items where dud, I think it's first time I ever bothered taking something back to the store. Was shocked to be asked to get another one and put the faulty one back on the shelf.

I don't think it's 100 percent nintendos fault but they are a big part of it. Yes they should have had enough stock for day 1 and going by the huge number of pre orders that most stores stopped taking preorders months before release Nintendo must have realised that it was going to be mega popular. However I also think scalpers selling them at silly prices didn't help things and it has made the problem worse. If it was just genuine buyers that was buying it wouldn't be anywhere near as difficult to get hold of it as it is now.

I think they did it on purpose. Theres a vid on youtube where this guy talks about them not filling all the preorders and they are bringing more out after xmas.

I made comment in the Wii U thread regarding the idea Nintendo purposely limited stock. This theory can actually be debunked very quickly, by looking at the sales numbers of there past items.

DS,3ds both had half million units at launch

N64 had half a million at launch

WII had a million

I think this shows that Nintendo do not purposely limit there stock, and if they expect a large demand like the WII they will up production.

My take on is this Nintendo made little amount of stock to test the waters, stores would of probably of known this however they just wanted gamble on the hope Nintendo will get more stock quickly. Now it's impossible to say how many people really are left without s unit, or trying to get the units to sell insane prices. So in reality the demand of product could of been near Nintendo's expectations, or not so far of there was no reason to up production.
