I think I mentioned this in a previous thread. I am going to give my reasons now, didn't want to say before.
But producers and researchers have been heavily talking about wanting a group to win this year behind the scenes.
This whole brooks thing was in the pipeline for ages just so it gives the groups a boost. Now I don't know which group could be potentially marketable as I think both of them have really good potential, but you need to trust me. Matt is a decoy and throwing us off scent.
People need to forget about the negatives in the groups as its only been one week. We know Matt has been getting the best treatment and he has the most positives out the final 11, but this is being done on purpose.

I think Simon wants another Olly as the current one may be starting to slow down a little, and sees enough of that in Matt to give it a shot. He pretty much said as much at the audition.

I think he is also interested in 5AM. The frontman has a lot of charisma - again, he said it at the audition - and they probably aren't in the same lane as the US boy group Syco is working on.

I don't think he's necessarily interested in any of the girls but not opposed to a couple of them going fairly far with decent treatment. If any of them break out then things could change.

I am curious to see what happens to Four of Diamonds when they go back on the show. I don't buy the idea that they were plan A from the beginning. Too fancy. He laid out his interest in plan As right from the start and backed it up with good treatment throughout the pre-lives process.

Cowell may well be playing a sneaky game this year. With the odd exception, he loses money with male soloists and makes money with groups.

I don't like olly but I'm quite sure matt can't be like him, all he can do is win this series because the competitors were cut off.

Sorry, but I heard otherwise. Matt is the chosen one, absolutely, as I heard from the beginning. I don't doubt they may do some damage control since they were called on it so soon by me and others this season, but he is.

Seems we have conflicting info,and yours was not in the original plan(and likely is not in the plan now) as the group was not decided to be through until recently.There were actual unforseen reasons why the Brooks are not there, and they are legit ones.

Matt has been the chosen one since the beginning. They have a few other horses in the race so to speak, but they will push him to at least semifinals.

Gifty has the best chance of winning this year.

Olly is a nice guy, but no singer IMO.

Acts chosen to be promoted and backed before the lives is a genuine thing.

In Matt's case, it is obvious. 4<>returning could actually keep 5AM from being a threat, which, if given an "advantageous" mix like Matt was, they easily could be. It will also draw attention off the solo girls. These are my "educated" guesses, but Matt being the chosen one(as it's called ) is not a guess.

Owned the stage? His audition was embarrassing. I actually expected cowell to say 'what the bloody he'll wax that?' And was in shock when the script called for them to praise him. Every week he was like drunk bloke at the office party and yet the judges inexplicably fawned over him like they'd discovered the new stevie wonder

Ollie may not have appealed to you personally but anyone with half an eye could see he'd have massive appeal!! as for his audition being embarrassing I bet there are many contestants past present and future who would wish for such an embarrassing audition !!

Doesn't really matter olly is one of the most successful acts from XF so I guess it doesn't really matter if his audition were embarrassing

Don't worry, I don't have much of an opinion on Relley yet. I just liked the rhyme (and that one could sing it to the tune of Mellow Yellow)

Regarding this idea that a group is the chosen one this year - I'm afraid I really don't see it. 5AM just aren't going to get good enough. Even if they improve considerably technically I'm afraid I think their appeal will be rather limited.

Similarly I don't see 4 Of Diamonds motivating enough people to vote for them. They're better vocalists than 5AM but a tad dull. There's also the small issue of Syco already having a successful girlband on their roster so I don't see them particularly feeling the need for another one.

I think the general assumption that they would want a boy to win this year is correct. Matt is the only boy who currently seems up to it and, indeed, one could make a case that the other boys made it to the lives purely because they would pose less of a threat to him than the ones who were rejected.

Ergo, Matt will win, it will be obvious they wanted him to win, and we'll all wonder why we bothered watching the whole sorry farce all over again just like we did last year.

mmpfb, your comments , especially after her "Praise You" are not fair or true. YOu may not like Relley's style or genre, but she does not shout. She has enough power toproject , and , while her tech could use some work, she is well on her way.

Maybe "they" call her Relley Yell-y , but over here in the Magical Land Of We Have A Clue About Vocals,"we" generally call her a beautiful young woman with a rich-toned, soulful voice and great instincts on how to use it, who , if she is already this good with little training or experience , is only going to go from strength to strength.

I think they would like 5AM in the final. Might as well have a group representing, they're likable, and they don't provide a threat to Matt vocally, their appeal is all about dancing and stage presence. If the frontman happens to catch on with enough teen girls they'll give them a shot. Totally different lane to both Matt and their planned boyband, and hey they gave RnB a single last year.

Gifty would be a good finalist as well. Puts on a show, likable but not incredibly so, weak vocally. It would be Fleur vs. Ben all over again except this time they actually want "Ben" to win.

Hovering right outside are Four of Diamonds who weren't even supposed to be there. The fact that a manufactured girl group that the show doesn't really care for and which hasn't even performed live yet shot in to 4th favorite speaks volumes about this field.

Fleur and Gifty aren't weak vocally though and any ways I think Relley will Outstay Gifty at the moment ...

Also four of diamonds have this big comeback story not only that they were popular from judges houses - I wouldn't under estimate them atm but still going for a Matt win over here, it's to obvious

lol Paul McKenna is actually amazing. I have read some of his books and listened to some of his audios. There is something truly amazing about him, I cant explain it. He should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Cowell!

McKenna wouldn't be insulted by it. They go on holiday together.
