Annoying problem with new TV.

I bought one of these back in the summer. Decent TV however it has one major issue.

When the scene is dark, say a night scene you can't see anything on the TV, It goes very dark, and in day scenes it goes very bright. I am sure there is some sort of setting to fix it but I have played around with contrast etc but no better.

Any ideas?

If you state the type of set, or show the actual website, rather than hiding it under the word "these" which could take us to some virus ridden site we might take an interest in your problem.

Have you read the manual or is that a silly question?

Looking at the manual online, things you might try are:

In the contrast settings, set Contrast Mode to Off, set Dynamic Contrast to Off. This should stop the TV exaggerating the contrast. The contrast control should then do what you want it to do and not be overridden.

You could also try setting the Picture Style to Movie, which gives a more natural picture, but can seem dull when you first switch to it, but you do get used to it.

A number of posters over the years have reported getting viruses from this site, I strongly suggest that you never click on words such as "here" on this or any other site, or any of the adverts either. Antivirus usually works well but is not 100% effective. He could, and should, have cut and pasted the Argos link directly as it is extremely easy to do.

A lot of posters post in this way, it's easy enough to get site information, highlight the word and right click or long finger press depending on your device, if you do not trust just ignore. No more of a risk than clicking an unfamiliar link in a post.

Neither of those methods work on a Mac but you can paste an unfamiliar web site into Google and see what Bitdefender or something similar makes of it. Fortunately Macs are fairly virus proof.

For Mac use the Status Bar feature, once enabled just hover the mouse over the 'hyperlink' and it'll show you the destination at the top of a drop down box, the same one you get on an iPhone/iPad.

That seems to be a Safari feature. Using Firefox or Chrome just hover the mouse over the link and the address is shown at the bottom of the screen.

Not so much a Safari feature, just the way to enable the URL preview facility as it's disabled by default, something the OP looks to be unaware of. I'm assuming they are using Safari, because they would have surely seen the site address somewhere on screen if using Firefox or Chrome.

Once enabled they won't have to rely on direct links and be able to deal with hyperlinks safely.

Thank you this is a feature I was not aware of as it was disabled by default.

Thanks for the help. Will try it out tonight.
