Experience of phones switching off randomly
I have a three yr old HTC One 7 that is a bit like triggers brush in that it has had a battery replacement and a new screen in that time. It has worked well for most of these three years but recently (6 weeks) it has started to switch off and back on again with no warning.
It has reached the point where I can only get 5 minutes out of it before it does it. When its not doing so it works fine and when it comes back on its all tickety boo until it happens again. I've removed most of my apps going back a year or so in case that was an issue, but to no avail and the local IT shop has recommended another new battery. Have you experienced this and have you any recommendations. Many thanks.

I would suspect a dodgy fitting battery. A sliver of paper inserted at the non-contact end may help.

There's numerous possibilities - ideally I would
* Leave it plugged in and do a full backup of your data - or at least what you can./ certainly photos etc. (google photos offers free unlimited storage) Do either/both of these two in whichever order you like * get a new, decent battery. I'd recommend Anker or an HTC original, but in particular with the latter get from a trusted supplier. There are many dodgy batteries out there * do a full hard reset of the device ie erase it and start again |
