WhatsApp voice messaging - Windows phone

I've asked this question on Windows Central (no response as yet) but I thought I'd post it here too, to see if anybody has any suggestions or solutions to this problem.

"My daughter and I both have the Lumia 435. She is disabled and we use the voice messaging in WhatsApp a lot. Until this last weekend that. Suddenly since the weekend we are both unable to understand the voice messages - they are crackling, distorted and just a mess. Older ones (since before Friday 7th October) are fine.

Seeing as we rely upon this as she is unable to write or read, we wondered if it might be a Windows update that caused the problem.

Failing any resolution of this issue we would have to resort to using another app for voice messaging, the problem being that I'm not the only person she needs to communicate with and other people she contacts also use WhatsApp."

Thanks in advance.

I’ve got a Lumia 635 and have had a small problem with the Windows Anniversary update but checking WhatsApp voice messaging that is working fine here.

The only thing I can think of to fix it for you is to uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp or just see if there is an update for the App.

It says to update the App you go to the store, but all that says is that it's installed - there's no 'update' button. Should I be looking somewhere else?

ETA: For now I'm uninstalling and reinstalling, as you suggested. Will see how it goes - if it works I'll do it on Jr's phone too.

ETA2: Nope, still same problem

Just in case anybody is interested I contacted WhatsApp who admit it's a Windows problem and suggested that I download the WhatsApp Beta version which should not have this problem.

I did that but the problem persists - for now Jr and I will be using Viber.
