I bought one of those keyboard cases with a micro USB lead to use with my Nexus 7 (2013) and nothing happens when I plug it in - is there something I'm meant to be doing? It is supposed to be compatible

Do you have any problems when you charge the nexus? The micro USB does tend to give up after a while.

What shows up in your Language and Input (or similar) menu in Settings? Can you provide a link to the specific keyboard case here so we can have a look at the details?

Hmmm... some of these keyboards need charging - any clues on the case/keyboard to suggest this may be required? Have you asked the seller?

That's good news to some extent. Nexus 7 2013 has limited OTG support but keyboards should work. Have you updated the OS or flashed a custom ROM? Is there a compatible OTG cable you can try? I think Nexus 7 OTG expects a certain pin configuration for the Micro USB end (pin 5?) and won't work if pin 5 isn't connected.

OTG allows you to use USB devices and usually requires a specific cable or needs to be built into a device-specific peripheral. The eBay blurb on your case suggests you don't need one but given that the Nexuse7 appears to require a specific pin configuration I'd be wary of that assertion. A case specifically made for your device would have been a safer bet. I'd contact the seller and seek assistance on Nexus 7 use. OTG stands for On The Go and normally for full sized USB to Micro USB (such as a mouse/keyboard or wireless mouse/keyboard dongle). Some OTG devices can also use USB storage devices but I understand the Nexus 7 is limited in this respect without rooting it and making OS changes.

Yes I went into Maplins today and they said the same. Think I'll just get a Bluetooth one. Thanks.
