Seriously why is she getting loads of screentime? I can't be the only one who is sick of her?!? It won't do any harm if they give her a week break.

I think SOC really likes her and is trying to bring her forward. Carmel has largely been a supporting character for over a year. it's nice to see her take a lead role for once. Also, she is popular with viewers.

Because it's her time in the spot light. She's hardly ever going to reach the pberuse levels of Phil, Mick, Shirley and Sharon. Those 4 I would gladly see the back off.

Carmel is annoying but I like Bonnie L and if she is staying I would like to see her sparring with her husband played by Omid Djalili.

because she fits SOC's vision. A character that is a fair blank canvas that has not yet been spoilt by DTC's sensationalism.
That's why I think the family is safe as they are a 'safe' family. |

I don't think she's getting 'loads'; she gets a fair bit but it doesn't seem excessive to me. I think because she's a 'big' personality, she's more noticeable when she's in an episode over some of the more quiet and softly spoken characters.
Of course if the rumours are true it's just building up to a surprise exit for her. We'll see, I guess. |

Any amount of screen time is too much for the old nag. Can't abide her. Is she meant to be funny.?

She's (probably) leaving soon anyway so let's be grateful for small mercies.

She's one of the few characters that hasn't been marred by sensationalist plots. Combine that with her being (IMO) a competent actress, and a popular new addition, and you can see why she is easy to use.

Bonnie L is an established name and recently won a 'Best Newcomer' award for the role of Carmel.
She has been in it a good bit but not with a massive storyline. I wouldn't call her overused. Overbearing though she can be I like Carmel. I hope the rumours about her leaving aren't true. This gig has done wonders in terms of reinventing Bonnie as an actress. |

The most annoying thing is how all the other characters constantly mispronounce her flipping name.....it isn't "Car-melle" with a major emphasis on the "elle" sound as they all insist on calling her, but should be pronounced more like "Car-mull"
Perhaps there is a British and Irish difference on the pronunciation?! |

Always thought Tamer Hassan would make a good EE character. Maybe as Umar?

I absolutely loathe Carmel. An interfering, bitter lowlife, whose entire life revolves around whinging about men, or perversely fawning over her grown manbaby son.
Masood should sling the harridan and her silly haired son out of his home. |

It did make me laugh yesterday when she said she is 50 I thought to myself really? thought the character was older than that!
I dont mind her so much as a character apart from when she is with Masood then she seems like a right old nagbag |

Quite sad to see people's opinions have turned on carmel
I remember the reactions very well over Bonnie on this forum Bonnie was announced she was joining the show - Members moaned and groaned Bonnie made her debut - Members applauded her and wanted her full time Bonnie was made a regular - Members were pleased A year later, members now want rid of her But if she wasn't being given this screen time, people would be moaning she is deadwood, pointless and deserves the axe. |

I like her in small doses, she kind of one of thoses character that easily can become irritating, I'm not a fan of the teenage love sick antics she been up to recently.
