Should X Factor UK have an underdog catergory?

X Factor Australia will have an underdog category where another judge will have 3 acts that were rejected at an earlier stage at the live shows. Do you think there should be a fifth judge with 3 acts that were eliminated at an earlier stage?
Personally I think it could work as it would eliminate deadlock and give contestants who viewers thought were unfairly rejected a second chance.

An alternative music category would make the show far more interesting.

They could just spare us the idea of categories and "mentoring" and put through 12 acts worthy of making the live shows, irrespective of whatever arbitrary categories the producers have come up with.

I wouldn't disagree with that idea.

I think the underdog category sounds like a brilliant idea.

The 6 chair bit is not effective, cruel and needs removing from the format totally.

In an alternate universe, "they" kind of do. It's called The Voice

Another category would only be the wildcards manipulation, but under one judge.

Have to agree with you regarding this.

I think an Underdog category would be really good! Brings something different to the show. If I could pick 3 acts to bring back as underdogs from this year it would be:

• Anelisa Lambola
• Janet Grogan
• Skarl3t

XF AU only has 3 main judges. The underdog judge only gives them 12 finalists too.

Definitely agree with Singy - though now itv have the voice, I wonder if anyone will actually have post show success

I would imagine that the artists that do well on the new series of The Voice will get better promotion on ITV.

Me neither. In fact, why don't we just do away with the judges completely?

TV promotion is nice, but no substitute for label promotion.

If the public vote for a talented, but safe choice with little marketability, the result will be the same.

In the past we've had 16 finalists, the underdog category would make it a final 15.

I think this series needs a bit more alternative to those three.

I'd vote for.

no we have enough underdogs as it is, every catergory would be an underdog

If the press are to be believed, they did plan on having a Wild Card category two years ago. There would be a Guest Mentor each week mentoring the 3 Wild Cards, but they instead just added a 4th contestant to each judge's category.

If they did have an Underdog category, then Christian Burrows, Janet Grogan, Skarl3t and Olivia Garcia need to come back!
