To me I think she suspects/knows that 'Alice' isn't really Alice and is looking for evidence to prove this.

Hmmm, could be. Unless this is going to be like Season 1, where the father wouldn't accept it, and kept searching.
I thought, like most, at the end of this episode we're supposed to believe that she isn't the real Alice. Although I interpreted what was said as she is the same person biologically, but not mentally. The Alice they knew was therefore gone. I'm just not sure if she is a fake, why kill her off soon after her return. Surely they would expand upon that story line, with her back, but not being the right Alice?
Also, was is said how she escaped? Surely that would be one of the first questions.

Her eyes are amazing, not many girls with eyes like that. Easily recognisable I would have thought.

It's not yet been explained.
Whichever way the story pans out -whether this is the real Alice or an impostor- Mum would either be looking for the real Alice, or someone who looks enough like her for the alleged switch to happen. And if we take Baptiste's last words of Ep1 literally, and accept Alice's story about Alice being her co-prisoner, then Alice seems to look like Sophie Giroux, and the abductor had a "type"
As to why it's theme park pics, maybe it's something to do with them being the only public photos of Sophie available for Gemma to look through, and they don't have official access to any others for some as yet unexplained reason.
At the end of the last episode, when "Alice" was lying on the bed and the camera was facing her face...did her eyes open? I looked away as I'm creeped out

And this soldier knows something about Sophie or Alice.
