I may be totally confused here but Alice didn't reappear until the present day did she

Thinking about it then that would've made her 13 when she was taken if her 11 years in captivity ended in the present day.

I'm sure I saw something on the news recently about a boy going missing and they recently found a toy car on a beach that belonged to him, they also investigated a wide range of conspiracies). They also made me feel sorry for a Paedophile . This series touched on all that, but was a more satisfying thriller.”

Ben Needham's toy car was found on the building site where he went missing in Greece, after excavations they haven't still found his body.

2014, she has been 'dead' for 2 years in the present day. 2014 was where she faked her death and disappeared.

I thought she was 11, they must have said so at some point, or someone worked it out on here.

Regardless, "Alice" i.e Sophie appeared in 2014, that was 11 years after Alice was taken. Alice was Born in 1992, she therefore was not 15 when she was taken, she was 11

She re-appeared in 2014 as 'Alice' and went through with the whole fake suicide plan then buggered off back to creepy Gettrick. Then 2 years later, in the present day, when she had cut her hair short, this is when they move to the cabin in Switzerland.

Yes thank you, that is who I am thinking of. Why can't people just leave kids alone? I just despair sometimes.

Ignore me, I misread things, thought you were talking about Sophie! Yes, Alice only reappears in the current day!

If I was Alice's parents I would take it that my daughter had 'reappeared' in the present day, not two years previously when Sophie pretended to be her.

Sorry we have all confused each other. We were talking about fake Alice, so Sophie. Your right the actual Alice didn't appear until 2016.

Yes, but this was all in reference to someone saying she was 15 when she was taken, she wasn't, she was 11

It is very likely that his death was an accident, but that the digger driver panicked and hid his body.

In the whole series Gettrick was a captor , cruel and mean . He spoke of Lena and Alice with distain and treated them badly and violently . Yet we are told of a happy day out with treats and smiling photos on a rollercoaster . So why didn't non compliant Lena or Alice run or hide or pass a note . ?
It was a very random part that didnt really fit with the story IMO”

Yes I liked the ending but its pace was to quick also I would have liked to know why he abducted each of them, was it opportunistic!

And yes that rollercoaster photo certainly didn't fit in with the opening scene in the basement.

I also wanted to see Gettrick questioned more.

Someone like that would have quite a few victims and secrets.

My idea for another series Baptists recovers and investigates Gettrick more...

They could have shown a few more flashbacks of the girls in captivity as well. Although the ones we saw were hard enough to watch. I think they did the best they could in an hour.

They had to lock her in so that they could guarantee she wouldn't be rescued. The body had to burn so it was unrecognisable.”

BIB

Agrees but I find that with dramas, thrillers and murder mysteries on TV these days it goes on for a lot of episodes and then suddenly it is concluded in the last half an hour.

It is like the writers ramble on then suddenly have to have a conclusion and they jump straight to it.

I've been thinking about the rollercoaster, do we know when it was taken? It must be relatively recent because the actresses are all the same, maybe within the last 3-4 years (before 2014). Gettrick could have violent mood swings, if the girls behaved for a while, perhaps he was a lot nicer. We saw them in the basement at a very stressful time, so he was aggressive. From what Sophie told the Webster's, he wasn't always like that. Maybe the girls got gradually more defiant and the picture was taken before it escalated, leading to Lena's death.

BIB, while I would have liked a longer scene between Gettrick and Baptiste I wouldn't want another series investigating him. It sounds distressingly like Broadchurch series 2.

Just been thinking back and I'll be damned if I can remember ... why did Baptiste go to Iraq looking for Daniel Read? How had he linked Henry to the case ?

I just assumed given Getterick's nature that they were all opportunistic because he either knew them through being friends of the family... or he had access like in the case of the Iraqi girl. I think the reason they didn't show the abductions is along the same lines: that there was nothing more complicated about his overall motive besides him being a sicko, so we could use our imaginations for those scenes.

The other niggle I had was when Julien found out that Gettrick's uncle was on the electoral role in Vaaren but that there was no actual address for him. I rather thought that was the whole point of an electoral role .”

There was probably a unit based in Switzerland.

Alophie

(Actually, I'm not sure I understand her leaving those flowers on his grave - she had only met him briefly, as he couldn't help her without his medical kit and didn''t survive going to fetch it!)
