Ok, Sophie who for a time was "Alice" was believed to have died in the shed fire. Sophie was believed to have died in captivity. The point I'm making is that it wasn't until 2016 that the truth came out. They discovered Sophie was in fact alive - the reasons for her behaviour still stand. Her actions were due to the impact of her captivity - NOT criminal.
I'm not saying that Sophie colluded with Gettrick or is criminally responsible despite her deceit.

My post that you responded to was in reply to a poster suggesting Sophie be held criminally responsible

I enjoyed this much more than the first series. I think it was the acting - especially by the main set of parents, which made this much better. I also prefer the clear ending!

I'm really quite shocked that some people feel that Sophie could be considered an accomplice. She was taken as a child, kept locked up for years, presumably raped and then her child was kept hostage to ensure she behaved for the period of time she was freed because of the illness.

She was completely messed up in the head by Gettrick. She could never be considered an accomplice.
I agree with your paragraphs 2 & 3

yeah . . . Lena and her family were just ignored by the story really .

btw - are we to infer from what Gettrick said that Stone was a paedo too ?
Yes, poor Lena. She was like one of those James Bond henchmen that gets killed and no one cares about because they have no history.

Wasn't there a film once where they took one of those nameless henchmen and showed his family waiting for him to come home? Or have I just dreamt that up completely?

I loved this - I thought it was one of the best things I've seen on the BBC
I thought one of the saddest moments was when Kristian Herz was released and walked right past Nadia into the unknown. Presumably he won't have returned to Eckhausen. I can understand why he'd want nothing to do with Nadia
I wonder if the DVD that will soon come out will have some extra scenes that were edited out of the final broadcast

I'm surprised they didn't get the DVD out for Christmas. Oddly, according to Amazon, it is released on Boxing Day.

Same. It had a satisfactory ending. I loved that the speculation on here meant nothing.

It had a similar red herring thrown in as series 1 - we were misdirected to think there was a paedophile ring operating, when in fact it was just a lone operator. I felt that they were more interested in the intricacies of jumping backwards and forwards in time than they were with having a plausible plot. No matter - the overall was good.

Thanks for that. Interesting in that there's more likely to be a spin-off including Baptiste rather than a series 3. The brothers seem to be in so much demand we'll probably have to wait a while for the next anything.
