DNA testing is time consuming so let us assume they looked for a paternal match first.
Once that was found, why would anyone (except contributors to this forum) think it necessary to look again? After all, when you find what you're looking for, you stop looking.

He says "I know you killed that girl" then the policeman turns around... but with these trailers you never know if two unconnected scenes have been spliced together as a red herring!

Don't give up Gill! It's only confusing if you try second-guessing the answers as we're doing here. If you just let the story come to you, I'm sure it will all make perfect sense in the end. Maybe trying to solve it too soon is spoiling it for some

She replied in English but assuming for one moment she's the real Alice she could have either understood enough from having learnt some at school, have learned some from Sophie or simply realized that the waiter was trying to chat her up.
Were she the real Sophie then obviously she would have understood but replied in English just to fob him off more decisively.

The 2016 Sophie/Alice seems to have redder hair, like Sophie on the rollercoaster.

I've just read on Denofgeek.com this theory & like it...

Third Girl in the shed was the secret daughter of Sam Webster and Nadia Hertz, conceived on duty in Iraq in 1991. Alice is alive and reunited with her lover Sophie in Switzerland. Sophie killed Henry Reed. The skinhead twins attacked Nadia. And Hilda the parrot masterminded it all
