Bill gone up by £10

Im now in my first year of my contract and the bill has gone up £10 does this happen to everybody? I assume I can cancel anytime now? It says £20 is for the phone line package.

BT contracts are normally a minimum of 12months but some are longer. If you are now out of contract you can cancel at any time. If still in contract then you need to check the terms and what you will have to pay if ending early.

Don't take any increase without a fight. Give them a call ( armed with some facts (money) and figures from another company providing similar services).

From my own very recent experience BT will negotiate and reduce monthly costs if they believe they will lose you.

I managed to get a reduction of of over £14 on their Infinity services (upto 70MB unlimited) and also reduction in line rental, free caller ID and a reduction for anytime calls.

Keep it friendly and call back again if you don't succeed the first time!

Out of interest how much did you get it for? my contract is up in December and I currently get what you have for £46.99 per month (incl LR) I want to pay less now, especially as Vodafone have come along without needing Line Rental.

My Infinity 2 was going up to £32 a month which is a bit odd given it has never risen before.

Anyway i rang them up and was not happy with what i was offered so just kept saying i would ring back when i have looked at what is available.

As i was on the verge of leaving for Plusnet i was offered what i considered a great deal so i accepted it and was happy to recontract with BT as it was only £4.50 more than Plusnet and i kept my BT TV, BT Sport and BT WiFi and it is a £17 pm reduction on what my BT was before they even threatened to raise my infinity 2 price.

In all I am paying £42.09 for Infinity 2 (upto 70MB) Unlimited + Privacy Caller ID + Anytime calls and Line Rental.

Don't know if a good deal, but I felt that it wasn't bad considering Broadband alone would have been £32/month from BT.

As I frequently use BT's SmartTalk app on my mobile and also logon to BT Wifi away from the home, I didn't want to leave BT so it was a bit of a game to get a price reduction (play the 'I want to leave because I can get a better deal...')

I'm confused by their pricing as well, looking at their packages page it says Infinity 2 is £30 a month (above the reduced newbie offer of £25)

So why am I paying £37 a month for mine?

Anyone know what the actual prices for 1 and 2 are, was thinking of downgrading now they've bumped it up to 5.2 Megs, how much would I save a month?

I'm due a BT bill in the next 3 or 4 days so will see what my bill says.
I'm the now getting just over £5 a month of Infinity 2 and have free BT privacy at home with caller display but think the free BT privacy at home with caller display offer will end soon unless I renew it for another 12 months.
Line rental is £19.99 a month. I feel that line rental is starting to become very dear. It's lucky if we make 3 or 4 calls a month using the landline and I also have the free evening and weekend call package at just over £3 a month.
I'm also getting BT TV entertainment Max package for £12.50 a month instead of the £16 a month price.
I also get free AMC HD and the full BT sports pack including HD for free.
All my BT contracts are up near the end of January so will phone them early next year and see what they offer me.

I see it says infinity 2 is normally £30 currently online, and line rental is £18.99 mth, or pay annual line rental saver £205.08.
The only other fees I pay are for BT mobile.

Got my BT bill emailed to me this evening and I see BT answer 1571 service is now £2.25 a month. That's another very dear service.
My free BT Privacy with caller display for 12 months has now ended and I'm now being charged £1.75 a month for it. I had a felling that offer was going to end soon.
All the rest of the BT bill is as I was expecting.

Sky sometimes do and sometimes don't...I have a 50% offer with them, but no 12 month contract this time...last year when I got an offer it was based on having a 12 month contract. With BT I always have to renew a 12 month contract to get any offers..never had an 18 month contract with them, but I think that applies if you have BT TV.

Dad is now in his early 80s and he likes to have an idea of whos calling before he answers the phone. He now also has to wear an hearing aid in one ear and in the last year has to now use reading glasses most of the time. Even my hearing is only 95% perfect but not as bad as dads.
Sales and marketing calls have dropped by at lest 10% in the last year or so since we joined the TPS.

That's what I did. I wanted everything lined up.

After 12 months you have to pay for BT privacy with caller display on a monthly basis (£1.75 ?)
However- earlier this year I cancelled the evenings calls addon I had, but weirdly it also knocked off my caller display. There doesn't seem to be a way of re-adding caller display alone without starting a new 12months of BTprivacy with caller display. This was a right pain as I was wanting to wait a couple of months before I re-contracted on everything.

Slightly off topic I know but I cancelled Sky TV a few months ago. Since I have had £50 credit on account which paid for 3 months and then few weeks ago rang offering me 60% off any package and £100 credit on account. I have gone for cheapest package so £8 pm which in effect is year free with £100 credit using it up.

With BT I didn't realise if you cancelled BT Sports you have to pay a cancellation fee every month? I am a BT BB customer and also get it at £4 per month rather than £6. Not really using it so rang up yesterday thinking would be simple case of giving 30 days notice but said as in a 12 month contract I would have to pay £4.25 per month as cancelled it?!?!? So better off keeping it.

I cancelled the evenings add-on from within the MYBT account area, and for the exact same reason as you've mentioned yourself.

Maybe make sure it hasn't knocked off your caller display too like it did mine. Dial your own number to be sure
