Does anyone remember how long it was between her releasing Artpop and announcing her tour particularly the UK leg? I saw her in 2014 and desperate to see her again was hoping she announces a UK tour this month around the same time her new album is released

It was quite a while I think but not sure. Google will tell you. I doubt she'll be touring that soon but there should be a tour of some sort for this album.

It varies. Some artists go straight into a tour or some artists do one several months later.

I am not sure she will do another world tour, and if she does it certainly won't be arenas as I suspect this album will not sell very well. Im seeing a more intimate experience if she tours for Joanne. I will probably still try and go, if I like at least some of the tracks on the album anyway...

I think Gagas at that level of fame where one underwhelming album simply won't boot her out of arenas, I think she'd have to do consistently poorly over several albums to ever drop down to academies.

Yeah her touring reputation is in tact she would probably do less dates but still arenas for sure

Agreed. When artpop was released it underperformed compared to Born This Way and I remember people saying she wont sell out and she did within ten minutes !!

Don't get me wrong though, she probably wouldn't sell out stadiums

I wonder if she will do smaller venues on this tour. From what I've read, the music on her new album has more of a stripped down sound inspired by country and folk. It doesn't seem that type of music would work well in an arena or stadium.
Also the music on this album seems really different from her older music so I wonder how it can all fit together in one concert without seeming disjointed.

I think the problem with touring for her is she actually has a relatively few number of really big chart hits. A lot of older artists in their 40's, 50's or even older have several decades of hits, so if their new album flops it really doesn't matter as far as people going to see them live.
But for someone like Lady Gaga who still is relatively early in her career, it's much more important to have a hit album if she is going to continue playing large venues.

But maybe she doesn't want to keep playing huge venues. Perhaps she would like to tour in a more stripped down way with just her playing piano and guitar?

I expect the Joanne tour will take place in your local dive bar as she is going for that low key, intimate feel with this album.
I also wouldn't expect crazy costumes changes either or eye-popping visuals as it will all be very stripped back, and I'm sure a lot of her "Born This Way/Artpop" fans will hate it but she is looking to extend her fanbase now and attract country-pop fans.

It's fine to expand your fanbase, but not at the expense of alienating your older fans. I don't see country fans deciding they like Lady Gaga now.

You ruin the risk of not getting new fans but alienating all your old ones.
The pop artists who have had success doing country tend to be artists who already had a connection to the genre in their recordings like Sheryl Crow and Jewel. Gaga really doesn't have that.

I think she could do something like have an acoustic part of the concert maybe in the middle but still have a more uptempo choreographed dance element to it as well.

For me older artists are most successful when they add new elements to their sound, but not change so much you don't recognize them anymore.

Eminem said it best 14 years ago. If you bring out a new album and people can't tell the difference between the new one and the last one then what's the point? If it all sounds the same? You have to change and grow. You can have a lead single which is maybe built on a certain style or sound but the rest of the album has to be completely different, if you're just gonna have the same sound over and over, what's the point?
