New 8 out of 10 Cats
http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/news/a8...team-captains/
I didnt realize it had only been on 2 times in 2015/6. I wonder did the ratings crash or did channel 4 prefer countdown and jon and sean were too busy to do both. What do you think of new format. Also why is it on more 4 and surely it will be repeated prime time ch 4 anyway We're delighted that the incredibly talented Aisling Bea and Rob Beckett will join as team captains in its newest incarnation on More 4 whilst the dons Jimmy, Sean and Jon continue to make 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown appointment to view on 4." 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is currently airing at 9pm on Saturdays on Channel 4. 8 Out of 10 Cats will air on More 4, Channel 4 and All4 in the autumn. |

Also surely if it's different team captains it's not '8 Out Of 10 Cats' does Countdown any more?

I must say that the schedule for 'More 4' is not something I would normally check to see if there is anything worth watching.........but providing I'm aware of this show on the day of broadcast I'll watch it
So probably a thread on DS will have to alert me to it....... I like Rob and Aisling so should be pretty good Given up on the Countdown version ages ago |

I seen this thread and i had a momentary moment of excitement.........then i found out Sean and Jon had been replaced and i suddenly don't care.
There is no 8 out of 10 cats without Sean Lock for me. The guy makes the show funny and always has done, it won't be the same without him. The replacements just make it so much worse too. Aisling Bea is ok, she has made me laugh at a few things, but Rob Beckett is terrible, he's just an idiot. I'm not a fan of comedians that use being thick as their main source of laughs. I have been waiting for a new series of regular 8 out of 10 cats for a long time too and i have grown tired of the countdown version. This is a big disappointment for me. I would rather they didn't bring it back at all than bring it back with replacements. |

I wonder why Sean Locke and Jon Richardson aren't returning? If they simply didn't enjoy the original 8 Out Of 10 Cats format, fair enough but if they didn't fancy doing both the Countdown and normal versions in a relatively short space of time, or the producers didn't give them a choice, then it's a different matter.
The channel change is strange. The last series was shown on Mondays instead of its usual Friday night slot. Again, fair enough if they feel the likes of Gogglebox are the way to go on Fridays from now on, but why not keep the original broadcast on C4 in a different timeslot/day as was the case in 2014? Even accepting that a move away from C4 was inevitable, I believe E4 would be a more logical new home than More 4, a channel on which the only new programmes seem to be foreign dramas and documentaries. It's like moving Celebrity Juice to BBC Four. I like Rob Beckett but he's hit and miss when he appears on Mock The Week. He might fare better in a captain's role. I don't find Aisling Bea that funny but like Rob, she might grow into a more regular role. |

I studiously avoided 8 out of 10 does countdown.
I can't imagine that Lock would have not wanted to pick up the easy money and exposure of the regular 8 out of 10. Maybe Lock fell out over being forced to do so many Countdown. I would too. Also, don't agree with placing a woman without a high profile on there for the mistaken metro-sensitive sake of gender balance. |

It will be good to see the original version again. The countdown spin-off is rubbish.

The Countdown version is tired now, it needs a break and ideally they should have just commissioned a regular 8 out of 10 cats series to fill the void.
I will give it a shot, but really it is Sean the makes the show for me. |

Really great news that this will be on again but bad that Sean and Jon have been sacked. Not sure how good or bad Rod Bracket and Aileen Bea will be as captains but if all else fails one of them will know some Irish jokes. And another 18 episodes of Cats Do Count Down to watch in the hope that it was worth it.

Aisling Bea on Sunday Brunch saying she pretty much lives full-time in LA these days which bodes well for her captaining a topical UK based quiz.

8 Out Of 10 Cats : New Team Captains (More 4)
Liking it so far, Aisling getting stuck in and actually throwing out some intellectual thoughts. Rob throwing in some belters too
Think it's a good move to leave Jon and Sean on Countdown but shake up the original format lineup...feels like it's been too long

Oh dear.
This is a poor start. Even Joe Wilkinson is forcing it a bit this evening, but he's the best of a bad bunch. Aisling Bea is trying way too hard - she's not a natural at this and isn't funny The Tattoo Fixer and the Jade woman are adding very little and neither is the Made in Chelsea bloke. It's all about what Wilkinson and Beckett can bring to the table and Beckett's not as good on this as Mock The Week. |

I've just commented on the other thread, but I think it's poor so far.
I'll give the series a go, but replacing Lock and Richardson is going to be hard and I personally am finding Aisling unfunny and trying too hard with 3 of the other guests really poor. It's all about Joe Wilkinson and Beckett for me to hold this together with a bit of Jimmy Carr. |

I think it's been pretty poor. I usually like Aisling Bea but she feels really forced. The girl from tattoo fixers is as thick as two short planks, and everyone else had been dreadful.
It feels like they've tried to dumb it down to appeal more to the ITV2 / YouTube demographic, and I just don't think it's working. |

Has it been moved to More4? Disappointing to hear the loss of Sean and Jon. Hopefully this is just some spin-off series from the main on another channel.
I really enjoyed the special on New Years Eve, through to midnight last year. Sean's petrol station cake with the migrant lorry was amusing

Having now completed the first show, I really hope we see big improvements and better guests in the future.
Aisling Bea - Tried too hard, a bit of attention seeking by shouting over the top of others and then tried to be 'nice' captain. Only funny bit of the night was with Joe Wilkinson's hair. Rob Beckett - Improved as it went on but seems dumbed down. Joe Wilkinson - not his strongest night, but the funniest by a distance. Jade - Who? Not remotely funny. Is the accent put on as she kept losing it and then it came back in the same sentence. Paisley - Apparently from Tattoo Fixers - Just not very intelligent. Didn't know about Guy Fawkes? Jamie from Made in Chelsea - he takes the digs well but isn't funny himself. Jimmy Carr - Seemed a bit dumbed down himself, possibly as he didn't have Jon and Sean to bounce off. Will keep giving it a go but I just hope this improves. Other shows like Mock The Week sometimes have poor guests too, but i'm wondering if we are seeing the beginning of the end or hopefully, tonight was the worst in the series and that's out of the way. |
