I think this is something Corrie really need to work on, like I say they did in so well in the early 2000s, so why not now? Hopefully with the younger cast getting a bit of a boost we will start to see some of this in the near future.

On a completely unrelated note, ndd, may I ask, seeing as you only watch Corrie, why is your name Emmerdale related? ”

I've said this a lot of times on the forum but I'd love to see the likes of Liam, Hope, Ruby, Jack, Jake, etc become a unit interacting with each other & doing social things together in
a few years time in the same way those youngsters in the 00s did, bringing in their friends

too, as they did back then!!
The youngsters in recent years just seem such a miserable & insular bunch when they reached their teens: Simon, Amy, Craig, Faye, Bethany etc though I am pleased to say they are at least interacting a bit under Kate Oates!!

I've PM'd you re my username!!

Edit!! Chesney is a great case in point!! He's been a little old man in the body of a 20 odd year old for longer than I care to remember & because of that the fact that Katy went with him was just ludicrous, she would have had a proper group of 'girl buddies' (which to be fair after Ches she suddenly had, one of which was Steph) who would have had their pick of the lads & miserable, insular Ches would never have had a look in!!
What happened to that cute, cheeky kid who got up to all sorts with the equally cute
Sophie & a couple of other pre teens!! Even Sophie herself only ever seemed to have one friend & has been like a lost soul ever since she left!!

I actually started enjoying it more from Season 6 onwards! Before then it was good, but for some reason I didn't enjoy it as much.

This thread is for FM's to discuss past 'eras' of their favourite soaps and reminisce about soaps / 'soapy dramas' that are no longer on, for that reason it is completely worthy of a place in the soap forum. If you don't have anything relevant to contribute to the thread then there's no point in posting.

A thread about soaps belongs in soaps. Nobody would be looking for it in Chatter.

I thought the mid 2000s Corrie was quite good as well (up until about 2007), I loved the Baldwin storyline which carried that era imo. Danny and Leanne's affair, Mike dying in Ken's arms () the war over Mike's will between Adam, Jamie & Danny / Leanne with the latter trying to con poor Mike and then Leanne conning Danny out of 50k (she was great back in those days!). Admittedly it did go a bit skew whiff at the end with the whole Jamie and Frankie relationship.

The Harris family storyline was utterly fantastic as well...

There could never be anything good about a Bianca return, ever.

I agree they didn't kill off Dot when June left she came back 3 years later. Arthur should never have been killed.

ok this is recent not nostalgic but:

i loved corrie in 2013! 2013 was the best yr of the show i ever seen! early 2013 wasn't too good but from June/July onwards it was amazing!

yeah i know i'm probably on my own there tho. apparently 2013 gets a lot of shit on here

Tina's surrogacy, Karl becoming an evil bastard and Tina and Peters affair were the only bad points of that yr!

everything else was great! i loved the David/Nick/Kylie story and when it all came out at Lily's christening! and Roy and Hayley's visit to Blackpool was good

oh and when Rita got mugged by that gang! everything about that scene was funny cos the acting was hilariously bad

I disagree with you there, I think early 2013 was the last time Corrie was really good, the culmination of Tyrone's abuse, the Rovers fire, Chesney and Katy breaking up.

It was the last time I felt I had to watch the next episode, it was gripping. As soon as Collinson's material stopped and Blackburn's started airing later in the year, is when I started to lose interest.

I enjoyed Neighbours between 2003-2007:

It had my favourite character off all time Sky it also had The Timmins (Dylan, Stingray, Janae, Bree and Janelle) and Izzy who are all not in the show anymore.

Some great storylines in that time like the Plane crash, Sky/Lana, fire at Lou's Place (caused by Paul) and Izzy/Karl/Susan love triangle.

It had the deaths of David, Liljana and Serena Bishop in the plane crash and Stingray.

It also had many returns for the 20th anniversary as well like in person (Joe Mangel, Lance Wilkinson, Doug Willis, Annalise Hartman and Phillip Martin) and on Annalise's video (Libby Kennedy, Darren Stark, Billy Kennedy, Felicity, Scully, Hannah Martin, Amy Greenwood, Nina Tucker, Marlene Kratz, Mal Kennedy, Luke Handley, Brett Stark, Danni Stark, Gaby Willis, Angie Rebecchi, Sarah Beaumont, Paul McClain, Gail Robinson, Dr. Beverly Marshall, Jane Harris, Debbie Martin and Ruth Wilkinson)

Home and away was at its absolute best during the 90s. I miss those days.

Great thread!

Corrie was fantastic in 2002/2003/2004. 2000/2001 were a bit grim for Corrie's standards and it lost its identity a bit.

In contrast, EastEnders was at its best in 2000/2001. I'm also very fond of the Santer era. It worked so well and I don't think the show was ever the same after Peggy, Stacey and Ronnie's exits. I became a regular viewer in 2007, and I always looked forward to the next episode, up until about early-mid 2011.

But not many people go to Chatter!

Posts in Chatter don't add to your post count so I guess that's why people don't bother.

Threads that get moved there will most likely die just like mine has!

2013 was the last time I properly enjoyed Corrie, particularly the first half of the year. Kirsty's abuse of Tyrone was probably the standout storyline for me from that year, and I for some reason enjoyed Peter & Tina's affair but wasn't keen on the David/Nick & Kylie stuff. Roy & Hayley's visit to Blackpool were probably the scenes of the year for me

Yes, Rita getting mugged was included in the 'Worst Ever Corrie Scenes' poll Not only was it a cringe-worthy scene because of the bad acting, but also the language (or lack of it) It can't be helped though because all soaps are restricted when it comes to scenes like this due to the timeslot. I don't know why they don't have them swearing but 'bleep' it out, as it would stop scenes like this being so embarrassingly bad.

Going to spend the afternoon watching a couple of classic Corrie episodes from the 70s... or at least whatever I can find that's left on YouTube
