Katie Hopkins
I really dislike her but just watching her now on This Week I realise there used to be a different class of contestant on The Apprentice in ye olden days:

It's shifted from "somewhat accepted business programme" to "big brother does business".
I really don't like Katie, but I have to admit, she was one of the best candidates on the show. She made few mistakes and covered herself well. |

Yeah, she has always been a bit of a bitch, but she was, and is, a good business woman. I think most of it is bluster

Yeah, Katie was excellent on the Apprentice back in the day. It would have been incredible to have seen a Katie-Kristina final, my god those two hated each other
![]() Had Katie stayed in it I think she would have won it all, although it obviously wouldn't have worked out long term. |

She was also a negative Influence on Paul which caused friction and defeat upon her team. The only good week I remember from her was one of the later tasks where she was forced to work with Kristina on a subteam. Never mind her having sex romps with married men in fields. Would struggle to make my top 40 candidates. |

I quite liked Katie on the Apprentice. Yes she was a sneery cow and horrible to the lad from Blackburn whose name escapes me but she was also surprisingly decent with one of her team mates when they cocked up a pitch and was good at calming Tre down. Shame she's sold her soul to become a professional gobshite and I can't stand her now but it's easy money I guess.

I think it was Paul from Blackburn she was extremely vile too.
I really liked her friendship with Gazelle (she used to call her Giselle) on The Apprentice. I actually really liked Katie on The Apprentice. She was quite a good candidate but it all went tits up when she developed this new scary persona. But yeah, it used to be about business people on a reality tv show, now it's like Big Brother rejects who sometimes sell a thing or two wanting to be business people. Sugar keeps on the muppets who will get more people talking about the show as opposed to people who have business sense. |

LOL, not really. She might have done well on a few tasks, but she lost most of them and when in the boardroom she was constantly putting her foot in the other candidates (never mind her flirtations with Alan Sugar).

Most have not. For me a good apprentice candidate is a mix of good business skills and of coming across like a decent and likeable human being. |

Sorry what has her private sex life got to do with her ability to conduct business? People like you are the reason girls find it harder to succeed in the business world. You and your opinion s belong in the 1980s.

In an open field isn't exactly private. You're right that it might have zilch to do with her ability to run a business. It is however, fair game when she gobs off about judging other people for what they chose to name their children and how her children would never be caught dead paying with the likes of Tyler or Chardonnay or whatever names she chose that day (on This Morning I believe). She was trying to pass herself off as some hoity-toity classy mother. Having sex in a field with someone else's husband does not quite fit into that facade.

The discussion is on her performance on The Apprentice. Do you think he would have commented if it was a man engaged in extra marital sex?

Katie Hopkins made for great watching on the Apprentice. It was the best series anyway, with the likes of Tre, Adam, Katie, Rory. Amazingly good television.
And even though I dislike Katie with a passion, she was one of the reasons that 3rd series was as good as it was. |

Strange the paps happened to be in that particular field too. I wouldn't be surprised if she rang them. She would have been in for a double win. Humiliate her lovers wife so she could get her hooks into someone elses husband for the millionth time and increased publicity for her. She's a desperate attention seeker. Nothing more.
Unlike most of the rest |

WHilst kaite may be seen by some as being a good candidate, she was nowhere near as good as the final four in the first series.
To be honest, any of the final four from the first series would have won any other series - quite easily. |

I took part in the ranking the candidates list two years ago and I had her in 44th place actually.
For me a good apprentice candidate is a mix of good business skills and of coming across like a decent and likeable human being. Me too in a ideal world - but business is ruthless and nice guys come last. |

The Apprentice can be misleading here, perhaps, because all the tasks are one-off's. In most businesses, you need a continued relationship with your suppliers or your customers, and often with both. Apprentice candidates in the buying task will be applauded for getting (say) diamonds below cost price, but as iirc Duncan Bannatyne off Dragons Den asked, what happens when you go back next time for a repeat order and find your supplier's gone bust because he's been giving the stock away? Not to mention your colleagues. And note that Lord Sugar, not widely viewed as a pussy cat, kept the same senior management team for 30 years or so -- including working with Nick, Margaret and Claude since the 80s. You can't do that if you are continually screwing people over. (Karren is unusual in that sfaict she never had a business relationship with Sugar.) Of course, that might not apply to people lower down the org chart who might more often be viewed, rightly or wrongly, as interchangeable cogs. |
