I want to extract short music clips from recordings on my Foxsat HDR, which I've copied to my Windows 7 (x64) machine (I'm running Raydon's custom firmware).

I've tried Avidemux but it doesn't seem to render any audio on the output. I've also tried VideoRedo, but it renders audio out of sync and the sync correction option on the Tools menu doesn't seem to have any effect when I try it.

Can anyone recommend software that will enable me to extract short clips from a long recording while retaining correctly-synced audio?

Avidemux worked on mine, make sure you select the required parameters for the audio output, not just the copy mode.
The one issue I had with it is that the further through the recording the clip I wanted to extract was, the more the audio was out of sync.
I had to correct each clip by adjusting the audio offset which was quite time consuming as it involved a lot of trial and error.

What parameters would you recommend for the audio output in Avidemux? I tried entering values for "shift", but found that the sync wasn't consistent throughout the length of the 4-minute clip - e.g. it was synced fine at the start of the clip, but a minute in it was out again by miles
???

I’m surprised you had audio synch problems with VideoReDo. I frequently use VideoReDo TV Suite v5 for editing HD and SD recordings from my Foxsat, and these are always OK. I save HD edits as H.264 M2TS, and SD edits as MPEG2 M2TS.
