Bums! Just blown up my wireless charger stand

Had a little coffee spill which ran into the base plate of the stand (which is where the power lead connects) which I keep next to the coffee coaster. Ordered a new one but this time one where the power lead connects at the top and all the electronics are in the angled charger plate and nothing in the base plate.

Just a heads up for a design feature to avoid.

So basically you were a bit silly and are blaming the manufacturer. Okay.

I use one of those and avoid the temptation of putting my coffee on it LOL

No. I am blaming myself for my own clumsiness and myself for buying a product that is not designed to ameliorate the effect of my own clumsiness. Non-clumsy people need not take note of my cautionary tale.

As a corollary it shows that it is better to use a charging stand rather than a charging pad that sits flat on the table next to the coffee or even using wired charging with the phone sat flat as that could mean blowing up the much more expensive phone as well / instead.

BTW the blown-up charger still works perfectly well as a stand.

Who on earth keeps coffee and mobile chargers in the same house? I keep mine in separate villages. No wonder you got such a harsh response.

It is a quandary, I agree.

Perhaps I should only use my travel mug at home as well?

The new stand is a little more vertical than the old one making it a bit harder to read from my easy chair so I have adapted it to make it lie flatter and to lift the coffee-phobic parts even further away from the surface of the side table by attaching a small acrylic plate stand (laid face down and hooked over the edge of the table) to the base of the new charger stand (I have several of these acrylic plate stands around the house as they make effective but inexpensive mobile phone / tablet stands).

Now thinking about getting a second one of this model of charger stand to adapt for use as a permanently plumbed in car wireless charging cradle rather than use my power pack as I do now when needed. None of the commercially available wireless cradles appeal to me.
