Brackleys make all the tail suits for Strictly and their suits are fabulous but as you say, very expensive.
During the very early years the Strictly dresses would be taken to major dance competitions and sold to amateur dancers.
Nowadays no self respecting dancer would be seen dead in a Strictly dress and many are still for sale online from years ago!

I have two gripes

1. Themes always seem to bring out the worst.....e.g.: Ed and Rinder
2. Pockets on the men's trousers.........sew em up they spoil the lines every time

Oh sorry 3. Traditional Matador outfits for paso no thanks

I think wardrobe fans will find this blog post interesting. It is a by a dressmaker - who is also a writer etc and is an interview with Gerald of DSI London, it is worth looking at for the photos alone!
One quote from the article - "Creative director, Vicki Gill (as seen on It Takes Two), pattern cutters, seamstresses, diamante experts and a new apprentice turn round outfits in – gulp – three days. Tired just reading this? You should try attaching 8,000 diamante stones to a dress. And, oh, the dresses…"

I am led to believe that there is a new rule about costumes and routines on the 2016 Strictly. It is regarded by the management as being a family show. Gone are the days of skimpy costumes and the like.

I can assume that the following routine would not therefore be allowed on three counts, They would not sanction the costume, the routinewould be regarded as too raunchy and as for the water, - Well!
