This is based on the Apple case where the FBI took them to court to unlock the phone of a suspected terrorist.

I'm a diehard SVU fan and during breaks (series breaks or mid season hiatus') I always build up the next episode too much. This one was no different. It was a good episode but I expected too much. I'll probably enjoy it more on second watch (there are very few episodes I won't watch again).
Best line of the episode "We call Barba"

Had a terrible rain storm here last night and lost the signal right at the end of the episode. Luckily I was able to record the +1 episode and catch the ending. Good episode. Not sure if there's much chemistry between Benson and her boyfriend. It doesn't look too convincing to me.

I haven't watched SVU regularly for a few years but what I like about it is that you can dip in and out without missing too much but you always know you are going to get a decent episode.

Good to see Henry Thomas on the show. He should have had the career Leonardo DiCaprio had but it never happened for him. I wonder why.

I didn't like the series premiere
But last nights (which i watched this morning) was sensational. Episodes like these remind me why I am such a dedicated loyal fan of this show and why it is the only crime series i have never dropped after a few episodes or a few seasons. Incredible script. Brilliant performances. |

I am an old time view, used to watch it back at the dawn of the millennium. I must say though, catching up and only a few episodes off the current one, the tone of the show is starting to grate. I think I am a few weeks behind this episode, the one with the sleeze bag guy who pretends to be a college admissions fella but is really just some chump. Sleeps with mothers, etc. But in Bensons mind, everything is a man does seems like rape, and every female is a victim.
She even gives female perps an easier time with the whole "their life was awful" but same crime by a male and she goads them with how they will be raped in jail. Oh yeah, its fair game to use rape or the threat of rape if its against a man she suspects of being a criminal, so I guess sometimes rape is ok, if its against a man. I know in one episode they tackled that and she seemed to realise the error of her ways, but not, seasons go by and the old prison rape threat is going strong. As long as its a man. I might not get to the end, and its a shame as I like the new detectives, they seem interesting and willing to look at the complicated relationship of sex and the law. Benson is just reducing the value of women by always excusing their actions (in a single ****ing scene, without ANY cut aways, states to Fin that a boy being drunk doesn't excuse his actions but the lass being drunk does excuse hers,,,kept a straight face and no one said a word. In fact, hardly anyone challenges her, even the new ADA bows down to whatever she wants and what she mostly wants is rape victims) |
