Why won't people vote for SAara?

I'm finding all the Brexit / zenophobia arguments very interesting. If someone dares to even mention the possibility of racism in a thread regarding voting habits they're rounded on immediately and their argument is belittled and they are laughed off the forum. However, there seems to very much be a tolerance of the idea that Saara is a victim of Brexit hate. So white people are even top of the pile when it comes to oppression

The last time I watched Sam Bailey won and she seemed an old-fashioned winner a few years ago.

There is no place for a singer like this any more - you can know she is good at the same time as not being bothered whether you ever hear her sing again. I'm after something different these days and I wonder whether a lot of the voting public think so too.”

Exactly. Very well put.

As a fan of her in week 1 and also from her sing-off last week, I did not like this week's performance. Very shouty and her unique tone was thrown in at random times in the song between her other voices that she uses. I was very confused as to what she was doing with the song.

She's crap. Yes she can sing, but I find her tone very annoying and I also find her screechy and shouty. I don't think she has a nice voice at all.

When singing, Saara sometimes starts off good but need to control her vocals as she tends to shout and scream halfway through the songs. Could possibly be one of a number of factors as to why she doesn't get the votes.

My heart truly bleeds, she really does not deserve to be in the bottom 2 this week or last.”

Yeah I watched it again, you are correct. To be fair Cowell did make it sound like she was going home rather than just deadlock

What idiots are saying people's TV votes are affected by Brexit? That had to be the most hilarious and stupidest analysis ever. The typical XF voter is a child! Saara is not getting the votes because she is like a dated badly dressed Eurovision act with no obvious fan base. She is a fish out of water. She is likeable but there are better acts, that's all.

The thing I keep hearing is there's "no connection" and maybe I'm imagining it but when watching her performances I feel they keep her in wideshots for almost 90% of her act, that would easily contribute to lack of at-home connection when we're rarely getting to see her face.

Shut your eyes and she's easily the best singer on the whole show. (That said, can we stop trying to pretend Run is a Leona Lewis song!?)

its a shame since the girl can sing

Funnily enough, she was runner-up in both 2011 and this year in the show to pick Finland's Eurovision entry.

I don't know what it is about her but I can't feel any empathy with her, there's no connection. She just seems dated and she seems to be taking it all too seriously. The best contestants are those that seem to have a sense of irony about the whole process. Its the reason that I disliked Christopher Maloney so much too.

I cant warm to her, fantastic singer but I just dont get her!
Still shocked she made the live shows considering Sharon sent her home at 6 chair challenge and cant even remember name

Her nationality has nothing to do with my dislike of her.her west end one trick pony shouty perfomances and arrogant self entitled attitude does.

why people make it look like she was last in the votes way off the others?
She had more votes than Freddie and maybe Ryan too (he was saved by the teen app vote) so potentially she may have near 10% of the vote.

1. I do not like her voice

2. I cannot warm to her

I've just said on another thread why I feel others may not vote for her & I don't feel brexit has anything to do with it! Ruth Lorenzo had an amazing voice which wasn't screechy, hence why she did so well.

Well that's not the case here - I voted to remain, and I just don't like her - I can't warm to her, and her singing leaves me cold.
Her nationality is irrelevant to me, and probably many others who just find her unlikeable.

Wow just shows that we all hear thinks differently

Last night after she sang Run, I clapped her, it was pretty damn impressive

I find Gifty, Ryan and Honey G less likeable than Saara

Oh I will agree with you over Honey G and Ryan!!

I'm prepared to have my mind changed by Saara, but it hasn't happened yet.

She's got a great voice and seems like she works hard, but there is something kind of annoying about her. I felt bad for her yesterday because objectively speaking (imho) she is better than a few of the others and shouldn't have been in the bottom 2. I don't think she's a potential winner, but she should be a bit higher up the pack.

ETA: I don't think the song choices have been great for her, the two songs she's performed in the sing off have been much much better than the two she's had in the main show.

This shows it takes more than just having a good voice, there need to be some charisma, warmth and likeability which she doesn't have much of.

I don't have the internet at home, and have been waiting for the library to open today to come on to the forum and see why people think this is.

I honestly had thought the whole brexit thing myself, before I read the same idea on here from lots of other people, and came online just to see if others thought the same.

I remember when she got booed for singing in French at 6 chair, I doubt that would've happened in previous years.

I think there is just a lot of anti-eu sentiment around at the moment and a lot of people knowingly or not will have her nationality in their minds when they watch her perform. I think in previous years she would be coming top 4 easily each week if not higher.

Obviously there are people who simply wouldn't like her anyway.

I hope she can somehow win people over.

I also feel abit for her because if you look at her Wikipedia page it looks like she has had lots and lots of 'almost made it' times in her career.

In the liveshow comments thread, I said that she comes across as a bit to theatrical. By that, I mean she is very over the top with her mannerisms, it obviously comes from stage school or other instruction, and I think it just makes her a bit unrelatable.
Yes, it produces professional performances, but to do well on X factor you need more than that, people need to empathise with you to vote for you, and I just don;t see that happening. She is probably the best vocal in the competition, so its a shame really.

I never watched any audition shows, only seen the last two live shows in this series, so I don;t know what she may have done before that turned people off.

Well, Sharon didn't help by not selecting her!!!
Can't backtrack now - the public don't forget things like that!

And now with those 5+ years behind me and watching Saara on TV I can totally see it too - I first didn't think she was very likeable and thought she was a bit 'try-hard' and pretending to be quirky and bubbly, until I remembered that that's just how quirkiness and joy is expressed when Finnish.”

THIS + the 6 Chair Challenge incident. To be honest, bringing her back as a wildcard was pointless and taking her to the lives, too. She was damaged goods coming in.
