I think "Charity Dingle" is a frightful little tart, and April is an annoying pain in the a**e and in no way "cute".

I find special soap weeks with their silly over the top "stunts" even more cringeworthy than Simon Cowell's Amateur Circus or that mincing dancing show.

Oh and Brendan Brady was a vile, violent self-pitying little coward who should have been shot - a sniveling dangerous criminal with no redeeming features at all

Knowing full well that scene wasn't supposed to be funny I'll now be going to hell.

As well as the above comment not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but just in case here goes...

I have absolutely no sympathy for Jane Beale and actually think she's getting exactly what she deserves! And what the hell is wrong with Lauren? Lady, Ian and Jane knowingly let your father rot in jail for a Murder he didn't commit and yet you're sitting there kissing their arses? Get angry, get pissed off with them whatever just stop acting they're saints will you?! Ugh!

I don't even like Max but come on, Max could be the biggest douche on the planet and that still doesn't justify him being jailed for a crime he didn't do! Sometimes I question Soap logic I really do. Here's hoping Stephen screws them over more and Max making their lives a misery once he returns. But then knowing Eastenders they'll probably write it in a way to make Max out to be the unreasonable one whilst getting other characters to point out to him "Well to be fair you haven't exactly been a saint yourself mate" as if Max's past douchey behaviour suddenly trumps Ian and Jane framing him for Murder and tarnishing his life as a result.

Sorry for the rant but this whole thing has really annoyed me.”

Me too. Lauren should want nothing to do with Jane or Ian yet she's living in their home cosying up to them. The other night when Lauren commented that she wanted Louis to say 'mama' and Jane replied that he should be saying grandma I wanted to smack Jane good and hard, Louis and Lauren are nothing to do with her yet they probably want Jane to be seen now as the doting grandmother figure.

I always loahted Michelle Fowler, horrible tart who didn;t give a rap for anyone and didn't think twice about using the people around her to get what she wanted. I wish they'd killed the character off for good.

Another character I couldn't stand on EastEnders was Danielle and I never understood her popularity. She was inspid and weak and simply annoying just by being there.

Hollyoaks:

None of the gay male characters in Hollyoaks from about 2011 onwards has interested me. I liked Brendan as a villain but didn't care about his relationships. Despise Ste and can't stand James - not because they're gay, just because they're awful characters.

I find Jade and Alfie dull and their storyline, while touching, rips off a lot from The Fault in Our Stars. In general, Alfie annoys me - his character often feels like a checklist of "quirky" elements that they thought teen viewers would think are cool.

Trevor/Sienna and Tegan/Ziggy were horrid

Joanne has no good qualities whatsoever and Rachel Leskovac's acting is not enough to justify keeping Joanne on the show.

Peri should have had an abortion as she wanted. She never had post-natal depression and shouldn't have been portrayed as such - she was simply overwhelmed at being expected to be the sole carer for a baby she didn't want to have in the first place. The Osbournes' behaviour towards her was shameful; they tried to persuade her to keep the baby by promising to look after it, but then expected her to take care of the baby pretty much single-handedly and give up her education while making no such demand on Tom. When Peri wanted a break, who did they ask to step up and help? Jade, another child who was supposed to be in their care!

Far too much of Tom's and Cameron's behaviour is excused with "fathers' rights". A father has a right to see his children - not to be in a relationship with the mother. Tom doesn't have, and never had, the right to have a child just because he lost his own family.

Darren and Nancy are fine together, and should stay together for at least another year or two. If they do split up again, it should be permanent this time.

The promos done for the annual stunt week should be brought back more often for major events and storylines, like the show used to do (e.g. for Mercedes and Riley's wedding or the "Savage Party")

Silas is still a great villain and his re-appearance was better than 99% of everything else the show's done this year.

The whole "Six Weeks of Summer" thing is totally pointless

Up until Holly's death I thought Emmerdale was the poorest out of all the soaps over the last year.

Kate Oates is a completely overhyped producer.

Bryan Kirkwood seems to have reverted back to his initial Hollyoaks stint if decent plots and storylines.

Share that one with you. Most of summer 2015- summer 2016 on ED was absolutely dire. Ironically, that's when the show won most of their awards.

It's a really weird thing about awards that soaps rarely seem to win them when they're actually very good.

Ross Barton is not remotely funny who's humour seems to revolve around poorly mimicking someone else's voice/accent which seems to be the extent of his wit and only like because people fancy Mike parr.

Robron are one of the most poisonous and farcical couplings and only put together to pander to a fanbase that mostly consist of young teenage girls who have a patronising view that gays or bisexual men are soooo cute. After showing how abusive this relationship was last year Emmerdale are now seeking a dangerous example about what is acceptable in a relationship to,the same young girls, while patting themselves on the back and holding there hands out for awards for handling the other abuse of Aaron storyline sensitively. Exploitive hypocrites.”

That did make me smile. I love Doug, but I can't remember why really.

Don't agree on Ross, but as it's an unpopular opinions thread, can't really complain.

Hollyoaks - Doug Carter was the best relationship Ste ever had, including Brendan.

Hollyoaks - Father Kieron should never have been killed off and he and John Paul would have been great together.

Coronation Street - Adam Rickett is the best Nick.

Coronation Street - Audrey Roberts should be killed off ASAP.

Eastenders - Johnny/Steven would be a terrible pairing and Johnny should be with Ben instead.

EastEnders :

- Jamie Borthwick is a decent enough actor and can be very good on occasion, but most of the time I find his performances a bit lazy and I don't understand the adoration for him.
- I preferred the character of Les to Pam and found Rodger Sloman's style of acting to be absolutely inspired.
- Stacey has only been likeable since getting together with Martin.
- Rita Simons has been a far superior actress to Samantha Womack for a good couple of years now.
- The Carters are the best family on the show.

Hollyoaks:

- I don't hate Ste. I'm frustrated by his writing a lot of the time but I think Kieron Richardson always does such a good playing him that I find myself sympathising with him regardless.
- John Paul is a horrible, judgmental character played by an extremely poor actor.
- Charlie Clapham isn't as bad an actor as people on here make out. I would class him as average; nothing special but nothing terrible. He's got quite good comic timing.

Steven is way out of weaselly looking Johnny Carter's league.

Emmerdale -

I kind of miss Debbie Dingle
I enjoyed Holly Barton's storyline from start to finish and whilst I appreciate that the actress wasn't the best, I actually really liked her

I liked her too. Her death was a great story but I really wanted her to get a job in London or something.

Quite happy to hold my hand up and admit I was wrong about Holly. The actress really came good, and her end was really moving. Definitely one of the best stories this year.

Weasels have adorable faces, though, just like cute little Johnny.

And he'd still be a major upgrade for Steven after mardy-faced Lauren.

I don't much care for Dot either.

I blooming love Shirley Carter.

I preferred Pat with Roy over Frank.”

And while I'm at it, I couldn't give a crap if Michelle Fowler was recast and I don't agree that so-called "iconic" characters should be untouchable. Although I'd much rather she just stayed away if her second head was as miserable at the first. And I don't even care if that means the contents of her folder shall remain forever a mystery.

I pretty much detest Sally in Corrie & don't find her funny in the slightest!!

Oh and of course I love Maria & think Samia Ghadie is a great actress when she's given something decent to act!!

Those two should be enough to make me unpopular for the rest of the day!!

My what may or may not be unpopular opinions

Coronation Street
- Gemma is one of my favourite new characters.
- Maria is one of my faves
- I prefer Caz to Sophie
- I think Dev and Mary would make a good couple and I like both characters a lot.
- I was glad they killed Hayley Cropper off, she had become stale and I am glad Roy has moved on with Cathy, who I like.
- I think Tracy Barlow has improved in recent times

Eastenders
- I think the majority of the hate for Jane Beale on here is over the top. Yes, her actions were wrong, but the way some carried on she is a mass murderer on the scale of Hitler.
- Killing Lucy Beale was a mistake, killing Peter would have been better if they had to kill anyone.
- I haven't missed Max Branning at all and think EE is all the better without the huge Branning focus
- Give me Abi over Lauren any day of the week. I think Jossa is an awful actress, Lorna Fitzgerald is loads better than her even with the irritating giggle!
- I love Tina Carter and I am glad she has got rid of Sonia as I felt Sonia drained the fun element from Tina.
- I think Whitney works better with the Carters than she ever did with the Jackson/Butchers.
- I don't care that Sharon is an original with so called legend status, I still can't stand her.

Emmerdale
- Charity is well past her sell by date and her storylines are repetitive
- Cain works better with Moira than Charity
- I dont mind 'robron' but don't get the huge love for them

Hollyoaks
- The McQueens are past their sell by date. The random relatives turning up now are just ridiculous
- I can't stand Myra McQueen
- I think Warren Fox is crap and always did.
- I couldnt stand Claire Devine and was glad they killed her off
- I have zero sympathy for Maxine and think she is the most pathetic character in soap

I think killing Pat Butcher was the right thing to do (EE)

Bringing Dead Kathy back from the dead was a mistake (EE)

I think Stuart Blackburn was no where near as bad as made out (Corrie)

I like Sean Tully got to issues with him at all (Corrie)”

Agree with all!

I agree. Some have lauded her for making Corrie more watchable but I don't see it myself, it comes across more dire than ever (with maybe a couple of exceptions). It's funny because if Blackburn's name was still on the credits they would nitpick and criticise every little story detail.

Most recent opinions:

Neighbours

Mark and Steph make a horrible couple! I keep getting told 'they have chemistry' and 'really gel as a couple' but i still don't buy it. They were put together because St Steph is seen as too much of a catch to be single and Mark happened to be the closest single guy on the show of a similar(ish) age. Plus i absolutely hate Steph with a passion!

I enjoyed Kyle's return and was disappointed he returned to Georgia instead of stayling with Amy. Hopefully he'll make another guest return and will have dumped his boring wife!

I don't particularly love Xanthe. She's ok in small doses but thats it.

I don't like Terese, she's a bossy, nasty little shrew. Brad's a plank too but that seems to be the general consensus.

Paige and Jack have no chemistry and the whole storyline has turned Paige from one of my absolute favourites to a character i don't recognise anymore. I prefered 'Jack' as Spencer in Home and Away.

Hollyoaks (still not watching but still read what's going on)

I still love Holly! Just wish she'd get a big storyline of her own. And i totally ship Adam/Holly or Joel/Holly for the purely shallow reasons that they'd look great together!

I never really took to Jade. Her introduction and fostering was done so badly that i wrote her off as pointless. I hear good things about the cancer storyline but she's not a character that could entice me back even with a strong storyline.

Myra McQueen has never been funny or a good mother.

Could Maxine get any more dreary? I actively don't root for her anymore (not that i ever really did, she's always been a bit annoying!). If a character's always going to play the victim it needs to be someone much more interesting than Maxine.

Even after the latest revelations i still like Mac.

Eastenders

Much prefer new Johnny to old Johnny.

I don't want Denise to have the baby, i don't like her with Kush and all her storylines lately have felt a bit lazy and desperate.

I don't get the hate for Jane but love for Lauren regarding Max. Jane at least tried to save Max from jail. Lauren shrugged it all off and moved to the other side of the World knowing full well he was innocent then returned and blamed it all on Abi.

The only reason i'm glad Lee's leaving is that it'll finally put an end to Lee/Whitney.

I don't want Kat or Alfie back and i can take or leave Belinda.

Emmerdale

David still belongs with Leyla no matter how much they try to push Tracy/David on us.

I still don't rate Chas or Charity. The characters are exhausted.

Andy did not love either Bernice or Chrissie. That was the only bit of his exit that let the whole story down.

Jimmy and Nicola's dramas never lead anywhere. They are stuck in a comedic rut.

I don't mind Carly/Marlon as couple, just wish they'd hurry up and give Carly something more substantial to do.

I already miss Holly!

Coronation Street

I've strangely warmed to Erica, not really 100% sure why though.

I can't stand Eva!

Michelle doesn't bother me and i actually like her and Steve as a couple. She's a huge improvement on his other wives. I wish Leanne's baby had turned out to be Nicks.

I don't particularly want Peter or Toyah back, but i'm pleased Adam's coming back with the same actor playing him.

I've loved having Beth/Kirk/Craig finally being given something more to do than comedy filler material, long may it continue.

Home and Away

I like the Morgans (mainly Tori and Brody) more than i ever liked any of the Braxtons!

I don't miss Ricky at all but really miss Maddy.

Phoebe is actually quite a good funny character.

Agreed, I think new Johnny is better than old Johnny in Eastenders.
