Here's one of the cowriters of Touch performing it acoustically on guitar.

So excited for you to hear the song I co-wrote for @LittleMix. TOUCH IS OUT NOW.🍾

Big ups @MNEK @shungudzo @YOUTHONIX & Patrick #GloryDays

As I suspected from the album sampler, I really don't like Touch and I don't think it will grow on me much. It's boring and generic and I don't like the vocals. I see why they want a club hit but I would prefer something like Please don't stop the music or promiscuous, which still sound great years later. I don't think Touch will age well. I hope this isn't indicative of the album as a whole or future albums or else I won't be on board, which would be disappointing after 5 years of loving them.

I wouldn't ignore SOTME because of Touch if I was in Columbia's shoes.”

I am the opposite to the BIB. I hate the vocals on the chorus but like the vocals on the verses. The acoustic makes the chorus a bit less grating so hopefully live performances will change my mind.

Not everyone will like this style of music whereas most people will sing along to a catchy pop tune when they're drunk even if they hate it when sober. SOTMX, BM and songs like it will appeal to a wider demographic than touch which is what you need for longevity, album sales, radio play (radio 2 won't like touch), media etc.

.”

These are my worries, it could be anyone singing it. For long term success they need people to buy into the band, not the song.

It's funny because comparing attempts at club bangers, WFH was more distinctive and had more of an identity than Touch does, which is VERY odd considering the history of both groups. I'm still bopping but it's how I feel. It could be anyone's song.

I suspect that the reason they didn't go all in on the tour dates is that they know they will lose some fans while gaining others in this transition album. It's a natural part of change and it's not a bad thing if they want to change which they've said they do. So far they have been very successful at getting people to buy into them so hopefully that continues. I think it will as long as the changes are gradual to give people time to adjust.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

How did SOTMX go from #76 to #90 in 4 hours in the US?

I was going to wait till Friday before listening to anything else but the mixed reviews made me curious.

I don't like Touch. Jesy was the only person who sounded distinctive. Its too generic. They're better than this.

Better than what exactly? They're finally making music people their age can dance to in clubs. You're just not used to this change, it'll take you awhile. You're probably still in the Get Weird era. The girls are leaving that behind and experimenting with new sounds.

Anything dance music seems to come across generic to a lot of people, funny because SOTME was considered generic by quite a few critics too. Generic streams/sells very well, and it's great at a crossing over in different markets. As many generic songs have shown. *cough* *cough louder*

Same Stardust, I gave it a listen this morning because of that and I am very underwhelmed. So far this album sounds very generic and miss matched. Where has the Little Mix sound gone? I like all the songs individually, but FU is the only one that sounds like LM to me. Touch definitely sounds more 5th Harmony than Little Mix. I'm worried as I love them, but I'm not here for a generic album from a group with no identity - that's the way LM seem to be heading with the instant grats/album previews. I hope the full album proves me wrong.

I think it's good, not mind-blowing but it's definitely the best offering we've had so far this era.

LM are slowly but surely moving away from their tween demographic, and I couldn't be any happier.

How does WFH have an identity? Tinashe, Britney, Selena Gomez and even Demi could have had that song on their last albums. It's hardly distinctive.

Ah, thanks for the link! Touch would be a great ballad as well.
So excited for the acoustic version

Poor weather has knocked out the power so I can't listen to the CD so used my spotify to hear touch since i fully charged my phone work before returning home through bloody flood waters (it took me 2 and a half hours to travel what would've taken 10 minutes). I'm 100% over this weather but thank god for new little mix music tbh.

Also since I can't listen to it now i've decided to hide it from view and wait for Friday morning when I will have it on my phone in iTunes quality since I didn't buy the CD for myself but my sister as a gift so I don't really wanna rip it open....

Touch is very much catered to the music of today and I haven't been a fan of that style and I will say now it won't be a fave of mine (a bit too much alterations on the vocals for me) however there is a large amount who will enjoy it. The chorus is definitely something that will get stuck in your head and I don't think in an annoying way. I will say though after every new release I end up replaying FU afterwards because as of now it is my favourite.

I personally don't get the absolute hype people were giving this track because even from the snippet i didn't think it would be a fave HOWEVER I do want to hear the acoustic version because from the snippet i think this is going to be like LMLY for me, where i adore the acoustic version but the normal version is just.......fine. I am curious if they will start the push for this as a second single before xmas or after....also now they have released the album version early, does this indicate an altered version for single release? feature version?

What's the next track out? Nobody Like You? Or Down and Dirty? PS whatever it is will be up in 3 hours here it's already after 9pm.

Living in New Zealand takes effort!

Panic avoided at the US iTunes position. I thought I felt a disturbance in the Force, and it was a million voices crying out. Or rather, it was The Voice performances pushing it down.

For such a popular program its sure weird it hasnt produced any music stars.

Only in the last 2 days!!!! Before that it's been stunning weather, we had the most lackluster winter lol so now I think it's the weather gods telling us we ain't getting off that easy...once the rain stops the aftershocks start hitting again and then 20 minutes later more rain, I have never seen anything like it.

This release strategy of Little Mix, I know they did it with Get Weird too but SYCO don't do it with any other artist so why do they do it this way with Little Mix?!

(I guess they kinda did it with Salute as well but that was releases through media organizations).

First of all, don't tell me what I'm not used to. I'm guessing I'm a lot older than you, and I've followed many artists throughout the years. I'm all for progression but just copying what's in the charts is not that.

Sirius - I've liked the other songs so far, but this just left me totally underwhelmed. We'll see what Friday brings.

The girls basically said they wanted to make music people can dance to and that was the theme for this album. Just because YOU and others don't like it doesn't mean it's "copying what's in the charts". You're clearly not used to them doing dance music because you're acting as if it's so "foreign". It's still very much LM.

Get on board or wait until the next album, I'm sure a lot of fans stomached GW although they didn't like it.

“Songs such as the pulsating Touch – basically the flip-side to Shout Out to My Ex’s sexual frustrations – and the haunted ballad Nobody Like You both sound more like songs women in their mid-20s might be keen to make.”

What's more organic than that? Making music that's a reflection on their current feelings and emotions. I don't see this album being trend chasing at all, it's completely them. The change has been all gradual, nothing is being forced here.

I dont think anyone's faulting the girls' feelings, they just feel mixed on the final results.

I don't know what final results they were expecting though. They specifically said wanted to make "songs for the club". I still think it's people who were so in love with the pure pop nostalgic vibe of GW who will have a hard time to adjust to this album. New listeners could love this, they're slowly branching out of their demographic.

Jesy has really found her voice this era her voice is so distinctive and is standing out on all the songs we've heard so far IMO .

I totally agree, I love the way they've been using her voice this album!
