Nuts in general.

I think I'll stop lurking on that other forum. It's tiring and annoying reading so many negative comments every day when you actually enjoy the album.
Stay here its better than lurking elsewhere.

i'm at work, cant open twitter haha

and I don' t think they're trolls but it does get tiring reading comments that were already made sometimes, besides some users that you notably only see liking negative posts about it but never comment. each one to their own though, I appreciate when it's more elaborate commentary

i'm curious about how next week's sales will be... GW had a very steady five or six weeks at about 50-60k, i fear there will be a bit of a drop this time, as there isn't much promo in the UK coming up. Christmas time though, so maybe not.

LM are not quite Adele but she sold most of 25 in the first week as opposed to 21 which sold a lot over two years, GW has sold very well for over a year GD may well sell a lot early on then drop like a stone. that of course makes no difference to the amount sold.

ATRL put this together

Tuesday Update [difference from Monday update]
1 Little Mix - Glory Days (72.9k) [+9k]
2 Metallica - Hardwired… To Self-Destruct (48.9k) [+3,5k]
3 Bruno Mars - 24k Magic (36.4k) [+4,3k]
4 Michael Ball & Alfie Boe - Together (24.6k) [+5k]
5 Elvis Presley & The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - The Wonder of You (18.4k) [+4,1k]

I would have expected a big drop after the shopping weekend, but it didnt on Monday.

The US has its biggest shopping weekend in a few days. Does the UK too?

Definitely and it's clear why.

DNA lead single - Wings #1
Salute lead single - Move #3
Get Weird lead single - Black Magic #1 3wks
Glory Days lead single - SOTME #1 3wks

Salute didn't get the luxury treatment the other albums got. It's such a shame, the album campaign was horrible and wasn't well planned. From single selections etc. NFLY was the hit that was screaming in the labels faces "pick me and send me to radio" and they ignored it.

Then I dont see the album dropping off very much if people can pick up the physical easily.

Yep Salute should have been the lead.

538 Little Mix Salute
999 Little Mix Move

Why their A&R chose Word Up I'll never figure out.

I think Guy and Anya have redeemed themselves especially with GWs stellar single campaign.

I'll put it down to temporary insanity.

May I just say I'm dining out on the fact that their album and lead single arent just limping in to #1 on a weak sales market, they are both annihilating their competition, and in both cases the competition was strong.

Could I dream of them blocking The Weeknd? I love him but it'd be impressive for them to block A-listers two weeks in a row.

I'm so happy they are looking to secure their first number one album, despite my personal thoughts on the album at this stage, this position has been a long time coming.

Possible but seems unlikely to me. Depends how much GD drops off though, SOTMX was fairly frontloaded.

To me The Weeknd seems a bit similar to Bruno in terms of his commercial position, broad mainstream popularity but not a huge dedicated fanbase. I would say Starboy has probably been somewhat better received than 24k Magic though.

SOTMX has sold 400k in a month, how is that frontloaded?

Their label with the exception of the Todays Hot Hits playlisting and Hot Tracks listing hasnt done any promo for the lead single yet its charted for 3 weeks. Its hard to find a physical album in the US. The song isnt really on radio yet.

I'd say the label is saving up for the tour. Now, I am wondering if they plan to debut Touch on the Today Show.

I'm steamed at them paying SOTMX dust.

Possibly because it could be considered "insensitive" on the PC front??

It's continued selling well, but they clearly have a diehard base that gave it an extra boost the first week.

I can imagine The Weeknd clearing 60-70k next week, and GD sales roughly halving and then rising slowly through Christmas, which would be a great result. We'll see though!

Right now I'm just glad they are on track to get the second biggest #1 of the year. It's too late for even a surprise Beyoncé album drop to stop them now.

I'm getting over it. It's not holding that well in non-UK base countries where it has decent radio support, and so much of the album is of similar quality.
