It already is the 2nd fastest selling album of the year.

Dunno what`s been posted in here.

@oscahhhhh
Little Mix already have the 2nd highest first week sales debut for a GG in the U.K since the Spice Girls' Spiceworld (shifted ~190,000+)

‏@oscahhhhh
THAT'S 19 DAMN YEARS! no other girl group has sold that many albums in a long time.

‏@oscahhhhh
they've already outsold the Sugababes when they were at their PEAK. sold 65,781 with Taller In More Ways. & THAT album went 2x platinum!

Compare what Buzzjack Joe said on Get Weird's first Wed. midweek back on Nov. 11 2015.

Album is of course down to #2 now, but it's looking pretty safe in that position.

Elvis 60k
Little Mix 45k
Ellie 32k
Beatles 19k

Crazy huge sales for LM, they sold 5097 yesterday, so if they keep that up, which they should because there's still streaming data missing, it'll be their fastest opening!

He would have blown a gasket at them selling 9k and 8k the past 2 days!

From BJ
Get Weird Weekly Sales:
Week 1: 60,053
Week 2: 32,989
Week 3 - 35,227
Week 4 - 49,430
Week 5 - 47,122
Week 6 - 61,067
Week 7 - 70,525

The album was part of Black Friday discounting on that third week, and it reported its highest weekly sales right before Xmas. It may get 100k yet. There was holiday discounting.

This worries me more:

After listening to the Touch acoustic so much the original sounds awful.

It does sound way worse because the emotion they pour in the verses on the acoustic version actually makes them good whilst on the standard they're very uneventful

IMO

Although the girls' can sing a mean ballad, I fear that they have developed a bit of a blind-spot over this kind of track..- in that they sometimes seem to favour them over some really good bops/bangers....

On another note:-
GD is the best of their works by a mile and yet ---- "Touch"???? is the best choice for the next release????

Is it really a good "dance anthem" - to use a modern term ?

Good thing people can buy the acoustic too and that both versions count towards the singles chart position

CV, you're really worried about Touch flopping, aren't you Have faith!

It wont flop in the UK/Eur. I have no faith in Columbia at this point in the US, and their team is obviously pinning their hopes on Touch to make some headway here.

They arent sticking around in the US after the DW tour either. Its just sounding like a repeat of 2014 so far to me. I remain skeptical.

What would have given me more hope is seeing Columbia push more than one song aggressively on US radio instead of the "here, have A song byee for a year" thing they have done repeatedly. Since they havent done much with SOTMX its now down to Touch and Oops.

I've been watching other labels shove not real popular songs on radio until it happens later or until the carcass is flayed, but I never see that level of pushing with LM.

It was difficult for FH to do much in the States despite being the local act and with plenty of promo also a couple of hit singles to feed off. LM may break over there but they most certainly need radio support to have any chance.

I believe I am right in saying LM will sell more GD albums in the UK this week than FH did with 7/27 first week sales in the states, that despite the population there being five times larger.

Both LM and 5H have gotten where they are at home because both have been pushed hard in their countries. Pushed hard = success in most cases. Hailee Seinfeld comes to mind. Having LM waste their time in Reno Nevada last year, which is more known for quickie divorces and a place for skiers to gamble, but not going to St. Louis Missouri, a hub of the US Midwest when that show was begging them to, is baffling. Also going to Salt Lake city Utah was a waste.

Bottom line is its their management who don't seem to have a clue what they are doing.

I hope Syco/Columbia can push the second-fastest selling UK act of the year narrative effectively. I don't think the US has ever seen a pop group with their trajectory, and it's one reason they may be written off by the mainstream here a bit. Pop groups aren't supposed to get stronger with age. But this could be a bit of a new, different thing if it's played right.

New website design Syco just Tweeted. Does anyone else see huge empty spaces on the girls' pages?

So Power has become my stand out song from the Album, it's such a smash.

Have gotta say this album absolutely wipes the floor with FH's latest one. And that's coming from someone who has preferred FH over LM.

Sounds much better than Sunday Brunch to me. Guess that was just the alcohol and lack of sleep.

Edit: I'm with aldu in still not loving the arrangement, but the spark's back.

You'll get no argument from me. GD is one hell of an album so loving it from beginning to end.

I like the acoustic version, I just wish they hadn't slowed it down - it doesn't really fit the song and it's missing that extra oomph (if that makes any sense ). They all sound great though

I've read a few comments on how because they're a family friendly act their sales tend to increase over christmas, does anyone think they could harm this status because of some of the content/genres on the new album? I worry about that because it's a big īpart of their sales success...
