BIB: Me neither, actually. I loved it straight away. The only songs I can't take to at all are YGN and NLY.

Regardless, Glory Days is my favourite LM album.

Just to clarify, I was talking about all around the Internet, not just here. Esp. over at ATRL I'm now seeing a lot of love for the album which is good since there's a fair few Americans posting.

The Buzzjacker who compiles the Top 40 lists anticipated the LM fans asking about Glory Days:

In case anyone asks, LM's album is #43.

I think they are better of releasing Touch tbh. As much as fans on here don't think it's phenomenal, the general public and non fans can't stop singing it (those that have heard it) which means one thing....radio hit.

So the order should rightfully be:

SOTME then Touch (they can do the acoustic version too in certain promo spots) then Oops and finish off the era with NMSS. I think it's best if Power stays an album gem because it just won't work on radio. It would be a shame if they released that as a single and it tanks badly and leaves bad memories of the song for all who loved it.

I love Your Love but don't see it doing particularly well on radio either.

Apparently no one has told 98.7 AMP in Detroit to stop having SOTMX on countdowns because they're probably playing it in 45 minutes. However they are also doing LM ticket giveaways to the tour and I think the album. The last winner was a guy too.

Did you notice all the new shows are on the front end of the tour and not the back? So that also leans towards the latter part not being flexible if its up against something scheduled. Maybe its as simple as them wanting to be appearing at the Jingle Bell Ball?

The Guardian has an article out on why NOW compilations are still so popular in the streaming age https://www.theguardian.com/music/mu...95-digital-age
but there is a nice screencap of the top of the tracklisting and there is LM front and almost center since its #2.

The radio thing is important and I do expect 'Touch' to be the next single. The acoustic version of 'Touch' is better than the original as it shows off how good LM are vocally. Live they could combine the two versions. I think the song is missing a melodic variation on the repeated chorus, that's all.

I think it would do well even without much radio support, it just needs a good music video and a big TV performance. Surely, it would manage to go silver then and that'd be great for a fourth or fifth single.

Power could be Salute 2.0. As far as I know, the song wasn't played that much on radio, either and it did well regardless. It was also used for TV ads. I can see that also happening with Power.

As a Guardian reader, it's good to see the continuing interest in popular culture. I used to buy the TOTP records before the NOW records. It was a cheap way to listen to all the hits from the 70s - pop music's greatest decade. There were proper compilations as well before NOW.

I also notice there is an article about streaming as a link from this one. Artists will have to accept lower income from recordings in the future.

I am hoping 'Power' is a statement of where LM want to go next. In fact if you listen to 'Glory Days' from 'Power' to "Touch, acoustic', it's a stronger, bolder record.

Power is extremely jarring so I hope not.

Oh yes!!

I'd make two changes to this - first is to start from 'Down & Dirty'.....and secondly, I'm not persuaded by 'Touch' acoustic, sorry. :/

Edit: Yes it showcases their vocals - but it drags on & on - I find it utterly boring.
Imo it is thoroughly lacking in content...

Apparently, Radio 2 is playing Touch, NMSS and Oops (via BJ). Does anyone know if they're playing Power as well? If not, then its Itunes position is even more remarkable. It's always among the Top3 album tracks (#365 Touch, #374 Power, #664 Oops).

Indeed.

Can't see it as a single, but as a musical statement its a great track.

Get that onto a show and people will remember it and probably seek out other music from the group for sure, but I cannot see it being a song that the wider public will spend money on as a single.

I think Oops is probably the big hit from this, but for me Your Love is a fantastic pop song. it starts out with a Caribbean flavour then kind of blends into a 50's vocal group style. I've said it before but in parts you could almost be listening to the girls cover a Drifters song.
However, albums need songs like Power as well, its so different and that is , for me what makes the album.

This headline in the press about fans being worried for Jade really makes me cross.

Everyone who are proper LM fans know they're known for being complete good balls, always having a laugh and not really giving a crap. Jade especially always has funny facial expressions. In fact, the girls have said numerous times in interviews Jade has the funniest facial expressions.

Same here. My only worry is that Touch and NMSS sound quite similar production wise. By the way I would love to hear a faster (dance sort of) version of both.
As long as Touch or NMSS makes it to number 2, I'm happy, then my number 4 would be Your Love or the lovely NEM...

Speaking of NEM, I love the Girls Alound vibe to it. It also sounds very festive or a song that can be done on a charity tv show...

Oops and YL definitely grew in me...
I cannot get into D&D as well as NLY.
Although I'm very into ballads NLY does not do it, they still need to match PIOK, T4W, G Enough (Live version), ILY and LMOLM... These four walls being my all time favourite.

I think it's a nice little album track and definitely better than some of the other songs on the album but at the same time it's a bit forgettable.

How many shows do they have at the O2 next year? Is it 4 or 5?

Looks like they're heading towards Adele and Beiber territory by having multiple dates in O2.
