It's a nice spin on your typical break-up song. I also admire how it changes the usual narrative we're used to from the girls and pop songs in general. No longer is it "you broke my heart etc." - they're acknowledging the fact that the relationship has ended and will get over their other half by drowning them out with the music, engaging with new people - not by sulking and delving into their ice cream or being surrounded by their 'girls'.
Jesy's "I will only hurt myself, tryna hurt you" in particular is one of the strongest moments on the album lyrically - the realisation that your own worth is more important than anything else. Rather than acting out irrationally "Boys suck!" etc. there's actually a more mature stand point being taken. More of this on future albums please ladies.
