^Neat. I was worried that with the parent company issues that led to the shuttering of Sugarscape, DS might be gone soon as well. Was already pondering a refugee thread on Buzzjack tbh...

Haha I was thinking of lifeboating over to BJ too, although my incessant posting would probably get on their nerves (but drive their Artist Forum standings up).

58. Little Mix, "Shout Out to My Ex"

The ladies of Little Mix were mere children when the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" came out, but the original purveyors of girl power would likely approve of this snappy pop kiss-off. It's a smart showcase for the foursome's talents, with a bright, rhythmic intro recalling Little Mix's a capella performances, before building to a power-chord-pumped unison chorus that demands to be sung at the top of one's lungs --- preferably as a kick-off to an epic night out. — R.M.

I wanted to ask, why are Touch and Oops making big moves this evening instead of earlier? Are people watching XF on catch up after work?

The fact we can react to posts worries me. This thread goes up in smoke when someone makes a comment, imagine what it will be like when the new forum comes.

Also new emojis, so even more new reactions

I heard Touch in the car for the first time today, it sounds so good! I really, really hope it does well for the girls, they deserve it.

Although if Oops is the song that charts higher here or in the US then fair enough. It's not my favourite but that's not really what it's about. Also, for what it's worth, I don't think it's childish at all. The lyrics definitely aren't.

Getting all 3 songs on US radio would be something radical for Columbia but I hope they do it. Right, Columbia?

If anyone is interested in the Finnish viewing audience for the Final (and therefore LM's excellent slot right before the results) I found this over at Sofabet.

Spoiler
The local TV channel “Sub” was originally showing this series a week or two behind the UK, subtitled. Once they realized the odds have turned in Saara’s favor and she might actually stand a chance to win – or at least get near to winning – they renegotiated their deal with Fremantlemedia, and managed to buy the rights to broadcast the subsequent shows live, getting live feeds straight from ITV. According to the reports, this was not an easy job, and required hundreds of man-hours and plenty of good will from both sides. Broadcast rights deals are usually made well in advance and not ad hoc like this.

It apparently paid off for them. The channel got 532,000 viewers on Saturday during the semifinal weekend, growing to 587,000 on Sunday.

These were already impressive figures by local standards, but were then topped last weekend with 1,036,000 tuning in to the final on Saturday and a whopping 1,324,000 (roughly 25% of the entire population!) on Sunday. It was the channel’s all-time record, formerly held by a local edition of Celebrity Big Brother, topping at 817,000 viewers.

Helsinki tour stop ahead? Perrie et famille are headed for Lapland.

After watching the Oops/Touch XF performance a few more times, I feel that the camera work let the girls down. Much as in the same way as their V Festival performances, we got far too many 'far away' shots from which we can't actually appreciate their moves to their full extent, as well as loads of boring sweeps of crowds

I'm all for a sweeping crane shot to give some majesty, but those long shots looked like they were taken from the cheap seats. I didnt even realize Charlie did start from the piano until I blew the image up on my monitor. I notice XF is really fond of the camera view back to the audience which is usually horribly lit too.

US Radio update from Headline Planet:

Last week, Columbia confirmed a January 17 US pop radio adds date for Little Mix’s “Shout Out To My Ex.”

While said impact is still more than a month away, it appears Columbia’s announcement led several stations to begin playing the song.

According to Mediabase, “Shout Out To My Ex” received at least two spins from at least eighteen new US pop stations in the seven days between December 5-11. Milwaukee’s 103.7 KISS FM played the song 6 times within that window, while Ocean, NJ’s B98.5 and Boise’s 103.5 KISS offered four spins.

Kansas City’s Mix 93.3 and Montgomery’s Y102 each played the song thrice.

Radio Disney (47 spins), Reno’s Alice 96.5 (30 spins) and SiriusXM Hits 1 (11 spins) were the biggest supporters during the aforementioned seven-day window, but all had played the song prior to December 5. Radio Disney and Alice 96.5 have actually been supporting the song for several weeks.

It really was a bit ridiculous. You're right, the 'high shots' during the middle eight etc were great for effect, but the other shots were so unnecessary. Even during the dance breakdown, we barely saw an of it up close. I actually didn't realise Charlie was at the piano either

I will however say this. I dont really like pink but they're finally wearing COLORS! Progress! The pink against the green lit background looked really nice on camera and it suited both songs. I think Jesy's camo leotard with unfortunately placed splots was a Fashion Don't though.

I watched the video back and there were too many sweeping shots I must admit. On the other hand the live vocals were great, a few ad libs but not overdone.

Watching them I was just thinking that Little Mix are really good. They are as good if not better than any other artist on that show. The two songs are so different and yet LM do them both so well. They can sing, harmonise and dance really well, sometimes all three at the same time. If they played guitar I think they would be dangerous.

I don't think I've followed an artist so closely since U2!

One of the reasons the acoustic intro to Touch didnt pop as well for me was that the end of Oops wasnt enough of a contrast. I think if it had been higher energy and then they did the acoustic as a real sharp contrast, it would have been more effective. It was a little mid level samey. I'm used to getting a "surprise" moment from them and I didnt feel like I got it. They were still very good.

Totally. They are easily amongst the best artists out there right now.

Wow, U2? That's a true testament to how good LM are.

I'm loving the pink/purple pastel colours of this era. The green really popped on stage as well. I think this is a taste of what's to come on the GD tour. They did say it would be 'stripped back' which makes me think there will be a lot of strobes, cubes and high-intensity dancing a la Beyonce.

I think you are right about that. The two songs don't offer that impact moment as well as earlier songs especially SOTMX and BM. Maybe they should done an older song (SLS part2) plus 'Touch' or 'Oops', that might have provided a bigger contrast/impact.

They've never done a U2 song, have they?

You're making me want to hear a LM rendition of 'What I'm Looking For' now

I'm trying to figure out why they went with the 2 song presentation. Either they're hoarding big tv spot performances for the UK while they are away, or maybe it has something to do with their US strategy. I'm hoping its the latter, assuming they are intending to do something with Oops and that "see you soon" to Charlie on Twitter today.

Can you imagine that?

This is the U2 song I think they should do - 'All I want is You' https://youtu.be/xPLbBm1N8qM

And it's already been done by a girl group (Bellefire - not well known).

Ah the Nineties. For a while in the US Irish was "in" with the Cranberries, Enya, Sinead and The Corrs.

I think LM wont ever be Rock chicks but I liked the big sound behind their vocals in LMLY and I think they could do more of that without it having to be a retro track. Thats some of why I like SOTMX so much and think the US will like it too.

All great acts.

I think LM could at least do some decent pop-rock a la Pink/Kelly Clarkson.

Poking around the web... Youtube views are frozen and Ticketmaster UK sales are broken.

On Twitter I'm seeing a lot of people checking out the album for the first time today and liking it though. Maybe premature but seems they're doing well with the 16-25, non-pop mainstream they're presumably targeting with Touch.

^^I was wondering if the upsurge in album downloads was people liking the new songs, and perhaps SOTMX and using the "complete my album" function?

Columbia updated their flyer from this morning! Now LM share the very top with John Legend, and there's even more radio stations listed for them like B96.
http://clients.allaccess.com/mail/C/...lumbia197.html

Now they have Houston TX and Denver CO.
