You don't have to be a rock chick to do U2....Mary J?

As for the Irish artists it would be more The Script, Villagers, Snow Patrol, Hozier, Kodaline and Soak these days.

YouTube finally updated the video to 100 million, although I suspect it got there yesterday on VEVO.

Is this their final promo slot before Christmas? Their team should've secured them some slots on the remaining Jingle Ball tour to get radio stations on board.

It ends on the 18th. What would be the point of doing 2 shows (since they are occupied on the 15th) when their song isnt widely out on radio yet?

There's still Jingle Ball shows left for Power 96.1 (Atlanta), 93.3 FLZ (Tampa, FL) and Y100 (Miami). Atlanta and Miami in particular would've been good, considering they're two of the biggest radio markets in US, to try and secure some stations support for the single.

Or they could also be exhausted by now and need their break (IMO Perrie's vocals do). I dont know if 5H is also on those shows but I dont know if having both on the same bill would be helpful at this stage.

Also, fans forget it isnt just the 4 girls. They have an entire support team that may want to get on with their lives too.

Hmm, does Perrie's voice sound tired though? I was concerned she sounded awfully ragged on some of the GD tracks, but there hasn't been much evidence of that in recent lives, to the point I was thinking it was a stylistic decision.

They should be very careful though, I have them at 89 scheduled shows for next year already with Asia and (I really hope) Spain and a few more Euro and SA dates to come.

I'm broadly in support of a couple of years with that kind of volume, actually, as it's what broke out Phish both in terms of fanbase and in terms of their ability to reliably channel magic live, at least in the opinion of most of the fanbase. But Phish were never vocal focused, and in fact were known for being exceptionally terrible singers back during that era.

It'll be an interesting experiment at least!

Its actually the recent lives they've done (not last night so much) that make me think that. I was watching back the JBB SOTMX and there was a point I thought (but didnt post then) that she sounded really bad, probably the worst in a long time. Starting at 2:40

Its kinda weird, as much as Jesy and Leigh have flourished with Joshua Alamu I think Perrie has gone the other way with the squeaking.

Interesting. I was actually mostly thinking she reached that part with better breath control than in some of their other recent performances. I think it's hard for her to get on top of that section live, you can see her running up against some walls, which is exactly what I would want from new material that will continue challenging them to grow. I would be more worried about raggedness or uncontrolled vibrato in the voice.

Not sure about the vocal coaching. I agree Jesy and Leigh-Anne have shown big gains this era. I wonder how much of that is new technique and how much of that is working through internal emotional crud. I mean I'm sure the breakup with Jake has been messy and difficult but Jesy seems to be carrying around much less deeply held stuff these days anyway. Perrie and to a lesser extent Jade seem to me to be the ones with more stuff to process atm, which is not the usual dynamic.

Better breath control? I think completely opposite, not only is she obviously breathless but she is sounding out of tune at the end and sort of yells out her line to cover it. I noticed this because its so out of the norm for her. In the early years I used to think of her as "Old Reliable" onstage. Not sure what you mean about "walls", as I dont think its anything emotional but just something physical.

I mean compared to other SOTME performances, that's actually the least she was struggling with her breath on that section. I remember her really struggling to even get anything out on the BBC1 CIN performance, and kind of making a laughing oops face at Jade. It's something she has had issues with consistently.

When I watch her perform atm, it seems like some of the places she's long been used to finding something diamond hard to push off of aren't as solid as they used to be. Maybe it's a physical issue, and she should watch it carefully, but.... I think she'll adjust and rediscover her footing and we'll wind up with a cleaner, more open tone eventually. She just needs to be careful not to force while things are shifting around.

You're right that she's had to back off some things in the meantime, and that that's not usual. I guess we'll see where it winds up and I am a little concerned about 100+ performances of Power, not gonna lie....

Yeah I was getting this feeling too. Like I posted before, she was soooo very consistent and reliable. It almost came off as oblivious sometimes when her bandmates may have been a little ruffled for a moment or freaking out like Leigh when a bug came around but she was steady and true with her singing to bring things back in control like nothing but an iceberg would take her off course. I have not had that feeling this Fall though because sometimes I got the impression she was straining (for her) a little. People go thru physical changes so maybe this is something like that. I do think its possibly their schedule. It could even be her new found skill with the dancing taking her control away until she adjusts.

I just want them to give a really good impression on Thursday before their break.

I just went over to the Auckland venue and this was the best I could get seated.

Sec UPPER
Row EE, Seats 794-795

If I read the seating chart correctly thats in the corner in the back.

This is the arena fully seated with an end stage.

Standing floor would hold a lot of people but I wonder how many want to do that.

Perrie should stop with the unneccessary high notes in Little Me and Down & Dirty.
She also should take more care of her voice when she's not on stage.

OT:
I was hoping the girls would return to #1 on the album charts after Christmas BUT Ed Sheean just tweeted a pic of a blue square. Is he coming back with a new single and a new album this year?

There's a lot of anxiety about Perrie's vocals but I thought it was partly a stylistic change to sound more edgy at times. I thought the JBB performance was energetic which left her out of breath a little. I'm not a vocal coach but I haven't observed any sign of stress yet. 89 major gigs from now might be a different thing though. Perrie might be really shouting out to her ex.

I was hoping the Ed Sheeran era of the earnest singer songwriter was over but maybe not?

I dont think they're selling more than 2k a day though, even if the position climb was impressive.

True.
I didn't expect both singles to enter the Top10. Oops will start falling pretty soon though. Do you think it can chart in the Top40 this week?
casualviewer
13-12-2016
I just looked up Clean Bandit's pure sales from last week, which were 30k. They are selling about 27% of the XF Winner now, so assume that one is 16k which makes Touch about 3.5k daily combined (so my math was off then). Digital Sales Data thinks the XF single is selling 11k though.

Top 40 last week was 14k. Streaming will add 1k a day so Touch may make it. For sure next week. Today's update will show how things at the top are selling.

I just watched the video back. Charlie looked a little constipated at one point.
