Touch at #4, SOTME #6 this week. First time with 2 top tens at the same time afaik!

Also, SOTME is now platinum.

The #Mixers have made sure that @LittleMix's year has ended on a high - 'Shout Out To My Ex' is now a Platinum single! #bpiAwards.

Three weeks at number one for Glory Days is insane. I'm shocked that they have a number one album, and two top singles in the same week so long after their initial release.

These girls are smashing it.

SOTME has also jumped to number 6 this week which means they definitely have 2 songs in the Top 10. When will the full singles chart be released?

Closing 2016 by reclaiming Number 1, Touch climbed to 4 after 1 performance slot of promo, Shout Out To My Ex in at #6, still selling after 2-3 months. Wow.

These really are the Glory Days.

Yes, but equally the article brought up all sorts of examples of rock bands from way back where the personnel have not got on with each other. The Stones survive because they don't see each other for years. Townsend and Daltrey of The Who were pushed onto the LiveAid stage together, Floyd's Gilmore and Waters didn't talk to each other for 20 years. And as the article says they always come together again in the end.

Most vocal groups be they girl or boy go through an audition process, so many are simply the project of a smart impresario, they are all manufactured in that sense. Be it The Pussycat Dolls, Sugababes or The Supremes..so the differential is supposedly the TV show? ..yet this is a thread for Little Mix which only goes to show you that it can work, or does it?

You are only confirming my idea that it is heightened media (and fan) scrutiny that makes the difference not necessarily the talent show origin. You have people even on this thread following the LM's girls flight plans and holidays!

Maybe you are right, because a group is put together on a tv show and is scrutinised by cameras and interviews from the start that makes a difference..perhaps it does encourage intrusiveness from fans. But Bieber gets it too and he wasn't on a talent show.
I guess the rock band feuds aren't as well-known (at least not to me, anyway ) which is probably because the media loves to stir up drama between mainstream popstars - and if they're girls, forget about it! Can't miss an opportunity to instigate a cat-fight. I'm fairly certain the media contributed to 5H's supposed divide (aka Camila v. Fourth Harmony).

I think you're right - today's world of 24-hour media coverage can doubtlessly exacerbate stress and tension amongst pop group members. Although bands had their fallouts in the pre-internet era, they could keep it private to a degree. Also, back then, negative press was mostly a lot of rubbish printed in rag mags based on malicious rumours and pure speculation that would never be addressed until years later. The Spice Girls, for example, springs to mind. On the face of it, they were proclaiming "Girl Power!" to the world, but were actually at each other's throats Imagine how even more toxic the SG would've been if they'd had phones glued to their hands, with social media buzzing at them, heightening their stress levels to the max.

Today's media (which includes every fan with a camera phone) are constantly chirping away stirring up tensions between celebs and, as that article said, when you're in your teens/20s you do tend to lash out without thinking. I think a lot of the time, celebs unintentional 'feed the beast' by responding to unsubstantiated rumours and, in trying to starve the story, they actually give it more oxygen.

And then there's just the simple fact that people do tend to just do each other's heads in after seeing each other all day, every day

One hour.

This is what makes me nervous about the reality show, although if they keep it on the documentary side it would be better. The thing is in an attempt to create drama that isnt there, the program could give false impressions to the public.

Queens of actual album sales. Only 5% were from streaming.

With the latest tallies SOTMX must be on 641,000 sales.

I can confirm that Little Mix album sales received a boost this week. On my way home from work tonight I had my annual sniff around in the sales at HMV and Head. Amongst a rock-heavy haul (Don Broco, Shura, Viola Beach and gannin' back later for Bastille and Twin Atlantic), I clocked DNA in the three-for-ten at Head (HMV had it in two-for-ten so at Head it was essentially free) and whilst Head had no Salute left whatsoever, HMV were knocking it out at a discount, four quid to you squire. The upshot: I've completed my LM archive! Years behind the curve, I know, but at the very start of 2016 I owned no Little Mix CDs at all, so the girls really have done well - the Wembley DVD underlining that the Mix can really kick it! It's taken longer than it should, but I can at last say it: today, I am a Mixer.
Assimilation completed.

The figures are great. This puts Little Mix high in the public consciousness. They still have the US and the two tours to follow.

I'm not sure about the tv fly on the wall thing either, may be they won't have time for it?

I never thought they would be as big as this.

To be fair about Lemonade, you can't stream her album anywhere good (aka only on Tidal), not even her singles are on spotify like Adele's.

Do you know what, looking at the biggest selling singles just makes me hate streaming. Drake's One Dance "sold" 1.94 million but only actually sol 500 something thousand. almost 75% streams?! Really?! I read somewhere that they re going to change it to be 150 streams for 1 sale.

Yeah, i know ways of consuming music are changing but i can't take seriously calling something a 'sale' when people haven't actually bought anything.

The Brits qualifying period usually ends in Nov. so it would never have made it. Last year they made an exception to extend to Dec. to include Adele. Maybe SLS made it?

This is also why I cant take the Brits as seriously as the Grammys, they arbitrarily create and delete categories and nomination criteria year to year. There''s no firm standards.
