I hate that we're getting Oops as the following would have been so perfect.
I'm not thrilled with it, but it's ok and everything about its behavior so far suggests it'll be another hit, which is hard to pass up.

I didn't realize they pushed back the US impact date by a week. Hopefully they're not having trouble getting stations on board, and it's just because people are on vacation.

Edit: psst, Columbia, the 23rd is a Monday.

Maybe there were some other big name artists impacting on the 17th so pushed it back a bit. Does anyone know if any big artists are impacting around the previous date?, if not my theory is blown.

Nothing springs to mind, but there could easily be a Katy release coming....

SOTME's radio impact date has been pushed back a week
Source?
Headline Planet mentions a new flyer but 198 is the only one they have, no 198b revision?
Nvm it was updated from my posting. Refresh! If its only a week it sounds like avoidance of something.

I work with a girl who absolutely hates Little Mix, but informed me today that she really likes "Touch" because it "sounds nothing like Little Mix"
This is my problem with it. For me it feels like they're doing a cover. Its nice that they can sound current, I suppose.

Actually might this be the case? It was just announced and with people on holiday I bet radio isnt prepared yet for this Friday. Could Columbia be doing their job for once looking out for LM?

In the UK is this the first chart week with the new 1:150 streaming ratio? How will it affect LM songs?

Rotten timing if it has as they are #2 on spotify now. Clean Band are still way ahead on itunes though.

1. Rockabye (feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie) by Clean Bandit 303,758
2 Touch by Little Mix 242,150
3 I Would Like by Zara Larsson 241,334
4 Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur 240,330

Its really close! That JA song must be on a lot of playlists.

Its not a distinct #2 yet as only 2000 streams separate 2-4. Lets see if Touch pulls away.

Yeah the ratio has changed now, evidently not having a negative effect on LM though with the potential three songs in the top 40

I wondered if it might help LM because they have hard sales too.

I doubt it'll harm them in the long run. I know their streaming performance has improved massively with this era, but their songs' longevity on sales has always been much more impressive, especially compared to other similarly sized hits that are usually kept afloat by streaming.

Edit: oops, pretty much reiterating what CV said.

I was surprised though that SLS is over Platinum yet the hard sales were only in the mid 200k range. SOTMX's growth will be slowed down.

LM is in a good place right now as a group. No GA, 5H, 1D, I believe JD is in studios right now. Plenty of territories to gain.
I'm hearing many talk about them.
2 of my colleagues, this morning, were singing Oops then I joined by humming Touch. They all laughed with surprise.
Then the convo turned into an imminent and possible rise of LM to the top.

Power might be a good follow up.

On another note, I'm finding it difficult to listen to Touch Right after NMSS. It sounds a little blend. NMSS has more going on.

The mixing is really off on Touch, it's too quiet compared to the rest of the album. (Nothing Else Matters too, imo.) Sounds great if I start the album with it, otherwise....

What annoys me greatly is how much louder my Itunes version of Touch is compared to the Spotify one.

That's something I've noticed between services, across many artists. Volume-wise I'd say it's Google Play > iTunes > embedded Youtube > Spotify > Youtube. Annoying. The embedded/non-embedded Youtube difference is particularly bizarre to me.

I guess it's the first ultra current-sounding single they've done, but I'm not sure what their core sound is that they're stepping outside. I mean they've got lots of group singing with good chemistry and no lead on the choruses along with evenly-shared leads on the verses... that's kind of their main defining characteristic.

Every album sounds very different, and at this rate they might run through every pop subgenre over the course of their careers. I'm here for that.

For me its easy to identify, besides the even vocal distribution. They have a "big" sound, often bombastic or some would say "noisy" or "shouty", which is why people thought Bang Bang sounded like LM. Often it was with big drum beats, chanting, clapping and finger snaps. LM can do all this because of strong vocals.

Touch is a lot more quiet and more in line with modern artists with weaker voices on the studio version. The live acoustic is great.

For me its as different as 70's Chicago would be without the brass. L M kept the harmonizing at least.

Seems like it's getting steady radio support now.

I checked the Pulse archive and it looks like Black Magic was around this range on iTunes when it hit the top 50, but I think SOTME is getting it done with less audience and obviously it's approaching the top 50 much further in advance of the adds date.

Z100 New York released an interview:

It had double the audience and 300 more spins when it entered, so I hope that improves.

I'd prefer seeing SOTME ahead on digital response. Tracks that enter in the 300+ iTunes range pretty reliably get flushed, though there are always exceptions.

Still some residual freeze effects on audience, everything still looks kind of off on the top 50 chart.

Still #2 on Spotify and increased to 271,859. Now only 50,000 behind Clean Bandit and closing.

The fact that the song is about Zayn doesn't cross my mind!' Malik's cousin declares her love for Perrie Edwards' hit Shout Out To My Ex... despite the lyrics 'mocking his sexual prowess.
