I thought LM were getting over saturated and the public would need a rest from them. Obviously not!

I think it will be released around the same time as SOTME gets US airplay so probably the 20th.

If we are wrong it never happened.

Incredible to think that 4 girls who thought they'd be gone in Week 2 are in this position today. What a success story.

Guess whats added to Columbia's flyer next week.

Metro fail

The girl group’s third album Touch has been at the top of the album charts for a cool four weeks now, the first time a girl band has done so since Destiny’s Child’s Survivor in 2001.

They need to capitalize while the track is still A-listed at Radio 1, though I suppose that matters less now than ever. I'd like to see the video next week and then the week after a Live Lounge and evening show appearance before they head off to the US for the impact date. But it's probably not going to happen.

Finally Hits DD features them again. I notice this week's article is missing the byline of a writer who seemed (to me) to downplay them a lot.

http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=304409

Edit: Leeds 2 is sold out on Ticketmaster now. Just Newcastle 4, Sheffield 3, Leeds 3 (matinee), and Glasgow 4 VIP left by my reckoning, and all of those are showing significant sales this week other than Glasgow.

To be fair to HDD, they dont mention the entire Top 10 in their weekly UK roundup. But LM have been mentioned when they were positioned high enough.

While you're at HDD there's an article on streaming increasing revenue in the UK.

They've had a few #1 album weeks kind of buried. I understand George Michael was the story of the week last week but a couple of sentences would be nice.

Streaming is taking over incredibly fast. Last month the industry reached the milestone of 100m paid subscriptions worldwide.

Good thing LM's streaming performance suddenly surged - or is that a natural effect of less techie demographics joining the services?

Eh? They were mentioned last week.

Not a big fuss because it was returning.

Under the same section they were also in the 2016 Biggest Sellers article (they rated a pic)

From Pulse about Ed's Shape of You:

Goes for adds next week according to AllAccess.

And there you have it. Columbia didnt want to fight with Ed, smartly.

Next week is the 10th though, right? That's why I'm suspicious another artist is dropping next week, and going for adds on the 17th.

Or it could be that they want to do a bit of UK promo and want the girls here for impact, or a few big stations asked for a longer post-freeze trial period, or the label's just being messy again....

You're mixing up New Music Fridays with how radio operates, they usually change over on Monday or Tuesday, I forget which.

Edit: oops I should look at a calendar. Maybe Columbia wanted to give more clearance around Ed.

More clearance is reasonable... but they're likely to be followed by Lorde or Katy or other artists of similar size a week or two later, so not sure how much it'll matter.

One followup to streaming, in the US it's more than 1/2 of consumption now (greater than physicals and downloads combined) and driving double digit revenue growth.

Ed Sheeran is likely to have mostly auto-adds, so his actual impact date will be immaterial.

FYI, a radio station must auto-add a song if they play it 7 or more times during a given week.

Touch down to 4 again thanks to Ed. 291,582, despite that its increased almost 20,000.

UK Itunes:
#143 Salute

Is it discounted?

Also, I think "Oops" is doing really well. I checked the airplay charts and it's not even in the Top40. Pretty sure that Heart isn't even playing it, only Capital.

.@LittleMix's #ShoutOutToMyEx has a good chance of ranking as Radio Disney's most played song for the January 1-7 tracking week.

Go Salute (for whatever reason)!

I'm still hazy on what the strategy is for the simultaneous debut of Touch and Oops.

Nice to see them doing well on Radio Disney, not the station they'll need eventually but at least the track is getting a good response.

I thought the strategy with Touch/Oops was basically to go for Touch but play Oops on a few HAC stations to move extra copies and get it in strong position for a third single launch in a few months.
