For perspective, keep in mind that The Weeknd's lead video after a huge era opened with 4.5m views. Bruno coming off Uptown Funk only opened with 7.5m. In that context, a 3.5m opening from a group with a limited footprint outside the UK is pretty amazing.

We're in a different era than the days of videos like Wrecking Ball and Anaconda doing 15m views on the first day or whatever. There's simply too much stuff competing for internet oxygen now.

Yep, or you can subscribe to Google Play + Youtube Red for $10/month so they make money off your views. I wish more people would as we're just going to keep getting cheaper and cheaper videos with the current trends. Not from LM as they have albums + tours to sell to a big core fanbase, but from everyone else.

I'm very happy at the girls' progress - and extremely pleased for them, especially now they seem to be gaining some of the missing recognition that's been due for far too long....

I'm interested to see how streaming numbers pick up now that they're on Today's Top Hits, they've been added to all these playlists really quickly. I'm loving this straight out of the gate success

After sitting for 40 minutes, I just can't manage my expectations.

Deducing from their announced plans that they had zero expectations to have the song do more than remind the US fanbase that there was an album coming out, since there werent any visits to the States we know of, this song has managed to do what real hits do, which is get out there and defy plans in a good way. Its kind of ironic that for all the planning and engineering they did for Black Magic, this song is coming out relatively strong in the US. Its also to me very American sounding, but it doesnt feel like that was coldly calculated? If the label had no plans to promote it in the US like Black Magic that is.

I dunno it just seems that whats happening is more natural than what happened with Black Magic, by the public's reaction?

All I would like for the song to do is prep the ground for their eventual tour appearances next year. Anything more would be great of course.

That seems like pretty reasonable expectations management to me! They won't have any real promo here since the early reaction was unforeseen, they're tightly booked on their home turf through Christmas, and they have to get the US collab track out in January before the DW tour.

"Reasonable expectations" would be not expecting anything! I just find it ironic that their most American sounding track isnt the one they planned to be promoted in America.

When I say American sounding I dont mean what's on Top 40 right now. I mean, its the kind of classic big in your face, blasting it in your car on a cross country trip while driving past the mesas at sunset kind of huge sound.*** I can picture myself driving around in the West with this going past magnificent scenery. I guess thats what they did for the video and it works.

It would be great to have 2 LM tracks on radio in succession. I suppose they have to release their planned track somewhat ahead of Feb. to give it time?
