Aw, what happened to the view count? Anyway while it was reset and actually showing realtime views I calculated the current rate. Looks like around 4.6m/day. Pretty great.

From watching Twitter today I would say it's not a classic viral phenomenon where there's a central idea that the web has latched onto and is passing around. It seems to simply have an extremely high obsession -> conversion rate.
