I know the answer is likely to be "not a chance", but out of this list of Top 40 songs which ones fit the criteria at the moment to be nominated for British Single at the Brits? I'd like to know what level SOTME needs to be at, although time is short.

I've only listened to the clip they put on FB so can't offer a definitive opinion as yet. It doesn't sound as terrible as I was expecting though (going by some comments on here lol).

Really? I thought a song would need to be at the 800k level. Are you assuming SOTME or SLS?

Wait I thought you meant what songs were eligible for a Brits nomination as it stands and they're the top 10.

Yeah that is what I meant, I just didnt think it would make the cut at 592k sales for 2016.

Oh woudnt it be wild if both SLS and SOTME made the list? Except I think SLS would get pushed out.

When are the cut offs for Brits eligibility?

Oh I see its "flexible".

Analysis - BBC music reporter Mark Savage

In previous years, Adele wouldn't have been eligible for the Brits. Her album was released in late November, weeks after the traditional cut-off point. This year, however, organisers extended the eligibility period to December.
It's a shrewd move. The Brits not only secure an appearance by the biggest-selling artist in the world - they also stop themselves from looking out of touch in an increasingly fast-paced music market.
Over the Atlantic, the Grammys will only consider albums released before 30 September, almost six months before the ceremony. So not only have they missed Adele's album, but they're only just getting round to recognising Taylor Swift's 1989 - a record that's nearly a year-and-a-half old.

Okay its been on repeat as I get ready and as long as u don't sit down and think about the lyrics too deeply (which for a album track popish song why bother) then its fun to have in the background and find itself singing along too for no reason other than its easily catchy.

Interesting to see if this stands out (in terms of the style) amongst the rest of glory days ......or blend in and SOTME is the outlier

I do wonder what the reaction to the new track would be if it wasn't written by MT. People here were so adamant that it was a bad idea to collab with her. The song isn't terrible at all. From the reaction here I was expecting song like Friday.

After a few listens it's most definitely a grower but just not single material.

I'm so eager to hear the Charlie Puth track now because I'm slightly in love with him and We Don't Talk Anymore has been one of my most played recently.

Its interesting to read the forums. PJ*** hates it, ATRL is mixed to really liking it.

***PJ is permanently stuck in a Girls Aloud timewarp in 2007 though.

***** Does that mean DS will be permanently stuck in a LM timewarp in 2016?

This is super random, but is Youtube really quiet the last day or two for anyone? Not just on their videos, but everywhere. With SOTME suddenly I have to turn it up a notch to match Spotify, where before it was louder.

Charty chart stuff from Australia. SOTME moves up to #12 from #50 on airplay.

Their appearance there will be nicely timed!

And Hair is still at #37, didn't realise the Australians loved it so much!

Yep. They're all really gorgeous this era, aren't they? I saw a comment from someone on Twitter who said they were suddenly really attractive and he couldn't figure out why since they "looked the same" (i.e. didn't have plastic surgery done or anything).

This seems very reasonable based on the approach I perceive they have firmly in place now. As they continue to let stuff come up and work through it each day, it gradually increases (exposes) more star power. This affects the energy and emotion conveyed by their vocals, but also the pre-verbal impression people have of their appearance.

I am curious to see what the future holds. They are the first musical group that I think has this approach firmly in place, and I see no reason there shouldn't be continued progression.

(Arguably Phish has developed a similar approach over the last 7 years since coming back sober; before that they were largely cheating their way to states of connection with drugs. Regardless, they'll always be many miles away from having the star power to ever be market competitive.)

They also seem to be that rare pop group that isnt being hobbled by substance abuse problems. Even The Sats Vanessa had an alcohol problem for a while which seemed to affect her voice.

Healthy living and healthy attitude, sky's the limit.

BTW Nissl, on the SOTME video I do notice its quieter as it was so loud before I had to turn my volume waaay down. Its not too bad though.

Just stunning. Only thing I hate about her and Jade (Jesy more so) is they over do it with that lip liner and that darker lip line trend is SO early 2000's. I mean I'm all for lip liner but at least match it the colour of lipstick/gloss and blend it in nicely.

But Jesy really has an amazing body and she oozes so much confidence now.

I have to agree I know the 90s are 'in' at the moment but it does look a tad dated.

BTW Youtube view counters have been (virtually) frozen for several hours now across all videos, so nobody freak out if you check Kworb and see their numbers plummeting.
