As we've seen in the last, doing a couple of appearances doesn't do them much good. Columbia was obviously scrambling a bit for radio play after the huge first response but even that takes time. Yeah true but its easy getting despondent as this all seem like deja vu.

Its published on Tuesday but we'll get whispers ahead of time from various sources. I think even BB does a preview.

They arent "doing nothing", have you forgotten they have a trip with a major tv performance planned for Australia and other commitments we're now hearing of? Also until the song has actually been on the radio in the US it would be useless for them to show up. That was the whole mismanaged problem with Move in the US.

It's the best they've ever done straight out of the gate, the fact they'll debut on the Hot 100 at all is mad. People need to give the song a chance, it's been out for 3 weeks, US hits need time to build. Radio play is a huge component

Perhaps their next single is even stronger and they're saving themselves for US promo till the DW tour

I do wonder, if this takes off stateside, what will they do with their plans for Touch, songs' longevity in the US are way longer.

Yes you are so right. Some songs from some artists just need time to build and all it takes is the right promo.

Like I remember John Legend's All of Me...that was released in like August 2013 but didn't take off until March the following year and we all know how that's become the biggest song of his career.

I was just about to say the same thing. Just because we aren't aware of their exact plans, doesn't mean they're not working. It takes time to arrange things, most of which is outwith the girls control. Plus, if they have appearances/performances booked, they can't just drop them to head over to the States. It would be unprofessional and they have to think of the long game.

Personally, I do hope they have more European promo lined up. I know they have that Awards show in Spain. I think they have a lot of potential to be bigger in Europe and some more decent promo slots could really help push that.

His costumes are always amazing If I remember correctly, he dressed up as Ursula last year and it spread throughout social media. Hopefully this will have a nice effect on SOTME!

I think the significance is that its already being played at people's parties in the US all on the strength of Spotify and YouTube.

I really dont get the panic in this thread. The actual behavior of people so far is to strongly like the song. The assumption I see here is once its on radio that the pattern of behavior would change to dislike. Numbers dont lie. People like the song. Its been going on like that for 2 weeks now.

There's always a bit of panic

With regards to the US, SOTME is probably already doing WAY better than what their team predicted. It's pretty likely that this wasn't meant to be the main US single anyway (not sure if they've actually confirmed that?). It's got their name out there again, and anything else that happens with it is a great bonus! The real test will be when they're over there for the AG tour and they release Touch (assuming, of course, that is the plan).

If anything happens with SOTME they would logically adjust plans for Touch. Even if this song just does middling, it still lays a good launch platform to follow up with another song....something they've never done before. If SOTME goes to radio in the next 2 weeks it needs 3 months to see what happens which would be January.

Yeah makes sense to me, the voice of reason.

I do wonder if the label bet on the right horse though, considering they never saw the potential with SOTME and the actual reception its gotten. It makes me question their judgement on Touch, if that is the next single.

LM does a song with similar sounds to current music
"Its faceless and generic"

LM does a distinctive song
"Its not like anything on radio"

I mean make up your mind people.

I see no reason why LMs songs wont do well in the States as they do fine most everywhere else.

On that note, its almost the end of the third day in the chart week and the best the nearest songs can do on iTunes is 58% of SOTME. That means just in downloads LM would be 20k ahead at the end. And this is the third week in. Has even Bieber been so far ahead this long?

I think a good song will do well regardless of what it sounds like - if people like it, they like it. i remember people were saying if they couldn't do it with BM, then they could never get a hit and yet SOTME looks to have the potential to do pretty well in the long run. Who would've thought the video would have over 30 million views in just over a week? Or that they could be debuting on the Hot100 with no radio support? I definitely didn't

Probably not as that is some percentage ratio of the rest.

And top 20 globally on Spotify. This song is bypassing the weeks it took for Black Magic to build and going in right where that one peaked (or close to).

Yep I hope this is what happens. Not to compare groups but 5H got their breakthrough with Worth It after middling results with Boss and Sledgehammer starting to build up their name. Give 'em a 6 month push this time, pretty please Columbia. They've actually got the tracks for it now.

Edit: since I was very critical of the two tracks Drake released (which by the way are already sliding quickly, ahem), I want to say the new one has some actual fire.

I wonder if Columbia will finally unleash The Discount. I see the song is still #38 on German iTunes with it.

That big gap between the end of the DW tour and their own is making me wonder about their planned stay.
