This thread is really quite sinister. Why watch a programme just to hate the host?
The show is quite interesting and has some great guests on. There is an added bonus "interactive element" to the show whereby you occasionally shout out "you dick" every time the dick starts dicking around or dragging the subject to be back on him rather than the guest. There is also a side game called "I wouldn't eat that if you put it in front of me" where the rush to get the food on the plate means the presentation looks like it's been dropped from a great height with some random leaves on top.

It's a shame about Tim Lovejoy. I played against him in 2000 when he was in the Badgers Soccer AM team. We all found him [ and everyone else from Soccer AM ] - to be friendly, they hung around for quite a while after the match and got a bit drunk with us!

A couple of years later, I went to the studio to watch Soccer AM going out and afterwards, briefly spoke to him and mentioned that we had played against them. He pretty much looked at me like I was strange and that he had no idea what I was on about. He made no attempt to even have a quick chat about it. We got the distinct impression that the success of Soccer AM at that time had gone to his head sadly. [ On the other hand, Helen Chamberlain was as lovely as she had been the first time we met her! ].

So I now occasionally watch Sunday Brunch depending who is on but I really don't think much of Lovejoy any more.

It went to his head and drove everything else out of it. He makes exactly the same jokes as he was making in 2000 and has remarkably limited intelligence.

She is one of my favourite stars around at the moment. Always thought she was brilliant as a guest on various panel shows (notably Cats does Countdown) so she'll do well as the new captain on 8 out of 10 Cats, but she's also putting in a superb performance in The Fall and seen her crop up in a couple of other acting roles too.

Really do hate the Sunday Brunch format though - can't we have a weekend show with celebrity guests which doesn't involve them being interviewed when somebody is cooking!
There's a new series of 8 Out Of 10 Cats ??
When ?

I'm dreading the new series to be honest.

I don't find Aisling remotely funny and Beckett on his brief appearances has been more dumbed down than on Mock The Week.

Lock and Richardson are huge losses but will still be on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Beckett is going to have to rely on the guests to help him out a bit, but Aisling Bea is a strange choice.

As for Tim Lovejoy, he was always a fool on Soccer AM.

I've never seen the show before, but I flicked channels and had it on for a while yesterday and I noticed that any conversation he starts with somebody starts out optimistic and chirpy enough, "I've heard you've got a book out" etc., but as it goes on it just disintegrates into nothing with the dialogue becoming disjointed, no rhythm or timing, and both Lovejoy and the interviewee looking more depressed than they did before he started the interview as the talking finally stops in awkward silence because no one knows what to say. Like they've just received some tragic news and have to suddenly stop.
This is very good analysis, especially since it's the first time you've seen the cretin interviewing. You are quite right that he sucks the life out of pretty much anything.

Yes, you see him start interviews, and you actually think you're going to see an interview of some sort, but no sooner than than the interview has just started and he's asked the first question he's distracted by the cooking, and passing Simon the salt or something. The interviews just fade into nothing and everything just goes dead.

You know what it's like when you try to speak to somebody and they don't even look at you? They're looking at their watch or fidgeting around looking everywhere but at your face, and just saying something like "Mmm, very interesting" but you know that they don't give a rat's arse about what you're saying. It's like that.

It's like the food is a handy distraction he can use if he's simply bored by somebody, which is everybody, and you get all the "yeah yeah" bullshit as he's passing Simon a spoon or something rather than engaging with the guest.
I'm sure that it's fine to be openly dismissive and ignorant when he interacts with people like that in his own home, but he's meant to be at work on a TV show giving viewers something to be interested about with the guest interviews.

Leave the fannying about in the kitchen to Simon, he's the cook. Let him deal with the food. It's not important Tim, you're just getting in the way anyway, you deal with the guests and interview them properly.
If he was constantly turning his back on me as I was trying to talk to him I'd just lose it. I'd take it that he finds Simon's cooking more interesting than me if he was paying more attention to helping Simon making the food. You can see it written all over the guests' faces as their voices weaken and get quieter as they gradually lose the will to speak right in front of our eyes. You can see the guests stop talking and fade away to nothing literally in mid-sentence, or Tim himself just breaks away from the conversation in mid-sentence like he suddenly can't be arsed talking to them anymore.

It makes me wonder if it's a deliberate part of the format, or whether he really does use the kitchen as a useful distraction to hide his inability to hold a conversation. This show is so ripe for parody I wouldn't be surprised if somebody has already done it.

I love Aisling. Smart, funny, beautiful (although she looks so much better without the fringe) - definitely my current crush.

Didn't watch Sunday Brunch, mainly because I hate the format and Lovejoy and feel sorry for Rimmer usually having to carry the show, but would love to see what happened. Anyone got a link to clip?

First time I have realized that the duo are 'Lovejoy and Rimmer' - clearly more suited to badly made porn.

You've written a book about how we will be colonising Mars within 20 years. Who is your dream interviewer to get this across to the general public?

Certainly not CRETIN OF THE CENTURY Tim the total twonk Lovejoy. 😡

"Is there gravity or will we have to wear chunky shoes?". T()$$er.

You could literally feel his brain whirring with the strain. He struggles with the simplest concept, so you can imagine he will have to lie down in a darkened room for a week after that.

Actually if anything this is very kind and generous towards the twonk, barely touching on his inanity and imbecility.

Surely even he must know he is 💩.

I guess the problem is that there is nothing else he can do either.

Good to see that the award of imbecile of the year to Lovejoy for the 22nd year in a row is entirely secure.

On today's show:

- John Lloyd literally couldn't hide his contempt for the twonk, refusing to respond to his pathetic questions until he stopped listening to him at all and just said whatever he wanted to say (very sensible approach)

- Rhod Gilbert had to get him to ask most of his questions again because the first version was typically a combination of inane and unclear (can't blame Rhod for not realizing that the cretin never listens to answers anyway)

- the brainless d1ck khimself informed us that the priorities for his dream house would be a bowling alley and a disco (fortunately he will never earn enough to get anywhere close to his dream house)

- The most searching question from the moronic wassock for Jim Sturgess was "TV drama is where it's at at the moment isn't it?"

- The thing that most impressed the vacuous idiot throughout the whole programme was Jim's skateboarding skills (the interests of an 8 year old) - he kept on banging on about it even after Jim had told him 3 times that he didn't do it any more

- the inane simplteon appeared astounded that when he went to the Ritz, he needed to wear a tie, so they loaned him a tie - everyone was really amused

- For the 23,457th time, the unintelligent oaf ppeared surprised that shoving something in his mouth just before doing his outro would make it difficult for him to speak and force him to put his hand in front if his mouth - learning skills that an 18 month old would be embarrassed about

- All of the girls in Little Mix looked, in comparison, like candidates for presidency of MENSA

It's just so unfair on all the other cretins.

Yes, lots better. A ten year old with a vocabulary of 100 words, a serious speech impediment and agoraphobia could do better.

Perfect.
I will have watched that before as I susually watch Charlie Brooker's show, but I just forgot about that.
He got the Tim Lovejoy just giving up in the middle of a sentence interview technique down to a tee.

Lovejoy is a cretin and renders the programme unwatchable. As if his inanity wasn't enough, the one time I tried watching he stuffed his face with food just seconds before he was due to speak and we were subjected to him trying to speak, watching the food roll round his mouth - gross.

He always used to do that on his old show on BBC2 'Something for the Weekend.' Whenever there was food about he'd be the first there to stuff his face, elbowing the guests aside so he could get in first and then have a mouthful of food when he had to do a link to the next item or whatever. He's an ignorant pig!

He does it every week. The definition of an imbecile - no capacity for learning at all.
