Dried Herbs

I've got a couple of those small glass jars of dried herbs from Sainsbury.......oregano and basil

Only 12 gram jars so they're small and they have a screw top

I wonder if once opened I could just pour in olive oil to cover the dried herb and it would infuse........it would be quite handy to just take a teaspoonful to add to pasta sauces etc

Do you think it would 'go off' ? .........or would it last for ages in the screw top jar ?

I've done this before with the tiny red dried chillis to make chilli oil and even in vinegar for my pie and mash.

Neither last long enough to worry about shelf life. I've seen truffles used in oil and I'd think basil oil would work too. Only one way to find out

1 It won't "go off"
2 12 grams would be used in no time if you cook often.
