It's a new service playing easy listening standards from the 1940s to the 70s on the Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham local MUX's.

The station is operating out of YOUR Radio in Dumbarton and the daytime lineup is personnel from the station suited to this new format.

6-10 John Scott
10-2 Mike McLean
2-6 Steve Delahaye (i.e. Spencer Pryor, owner of Timeless, YOUR and the Glasgow trial MUX).

Radio Clyde veteran Norman Ross will be hosting shows on Saturdays and Sundays.

Good luck to all!

I certainly wish them luck, there is an awful lot of good older music. Brilliant as they were, popular music didn't start with the Beatles and Stones or even Buddy Holly.

I do wonder how the music of the 70s will sit alongside that of the 40s and the early 50s though.

In actual fact I stand corrected as the fornat has been changed to include music up to the present day.

However fear not as there will be no Buddy Holly or Calvin Harris on offer for that matter. Never tracks on here include a new song by Cathrine Russell and a recent easy listening track from Rod Stewart.

Think similar to what Frank Skerret used to play on Clyde with his 'When Music Was Music' shows.

The closest we go to that here would probably have been GEM AMs "pure nostalgia" shows. But even they had things like the odd melodic Beatles track.

I can get the Birmingham MUX at a few locations round here so I'll be sure to check it out.

Yes, they are testing online. You can get it via the tune-in too as the live web stream on their website seems not to work at the moment.
Another station you can try out is at www.southernsound.org.uk and click on listen live on the right hand side of the main web page. Enjoy.

At least it seems to be something different. Might turn out a bit like Primetime/Saga?

You play this url in winamp http://mm.aiircdn.com/298/5801f6c6dc7d1.mp3
Haven't tried adding it to my 93i yet, but will try later.

ps Works fine on the 93i Now in a preset.

To Les Wires.
That url only plays an hour long sample so is NOT the URL.
Tune in does not find a stream either.
Nor is the station listen on Shoutcast or on Radiofeeds.co.uk

I suspect it's not the permanent stream and just an hour loop test. At least it gives an idea of the music to be played.

1. So I can listen to it on my 93i rather than via winamp on my pc.
2. I can check whether the tests change at the touch of a pre-set
3. Because someone asked the question.

Simple if you think about it, which I assume you haven't.

Chances are the live stream will come online but the loop will still be hosted.

Yet.

If anything it's pitched 'older' than Primetime was even a decade or so ago, with a postwar/ pre rock 'n' roll big band/ swing/trad jazz easy listening flavour, and music deritative of that time. This is easy listening as the term was understood in 1973.

It certainly is something different. Bear in mind a lot of people (like me) grew up listening to this music through their parents, grandparents et and it IS very good 'stands the test of time music' on it's own terms so may have a wider age appeal than just those alive postwar.

Timeless Radio has been running 'tests' on the Trial Glasgow small-cale mux at 128 kbts stereo.

Station was to launch in September, then it was put back to October and then it was announced that will launch tomorrow, Thursday 3rd November at 10am.

The website is incomplete with many pages needing filled, but it does state... "Launching soon on DAB Digital Radio in Glasgow..." so it may not be tomorrow!

In the meantime, there is a webcaster in the USA called Timeless Radio at: http://www.timelessradio.net/ and is available online at: http://tunein.com/radio/Timeless-Radio-s183656/
