None of Sugar's assistants have been pleasant. Margaret Mountford, Nick Hewer, Claude Littner and Karren Brady are/were all cutting and critical. Karren Brady is just doing what she is told to do by the BBC just like Claude Littner and her predecessors on the prog. Alan Sugar is also scathing and negative. That's the way the prog is.

The Apprentice only becomes less critical of the candidates during the final.

Ah, the annual Karren Brady bashing thread. Don't people get tired of writing the same things every year?

She did it every series that I watched until she got her current role when Margaret stood down.

Then Margaret took Karren's place in the interview process
Karen did interviews in series 4 and 5 if I remember correctly.

There are no rules requiring Karen's interventions to be those of a brattish five year old. If she wishes to be critical, there is nothing stopping her reserving such criticism for especially insightful comment on something a layperson might have missed.

Instead she chooses to be wholly snide about aspects that are entirely clear already to the candidates, the audience and anyone with an IQ above 50. Adding absolutely no value at all and not giving us any benefit of the wisdom that she has presumably gained through thirty years in business.

A deeply unimpressive contribution all round, of which she should be ashamed.

Everything is subjective, Karren's job is to observe and report back to Lord Sugar. I think she does a great job! As mentioned on You're Fired, her comments regarding Hairdressing and cleaning not being what Alan was looking for in a candidate were 'harsh but fair'

As I understand it, the programme is a massive edit of a long period of filming. How can we be sure that the two 'watchers' are like this all the time? Perhaps they have their good moments but the programme makers edit the film to show them in this light.

The whole thing is basically a work of fiction. The show is for entertainment, and bares absolutely no resemblance to the real world of "business". For every episode, hours and hours and hours of footage will be recorded and then edited down to make a 1 hour entertainment programme. All the bits that would not make 'good TV' are removed. Nobody wants to see people having quiet, restrained, sensible discussions about their project. To a TV audience it is much more interesting to see people shouting, struggling, being downright stupid.

The boardroom scenes for instance take around 8 or 9 hours to shoot.. How much do we see? About 15 minutes an episode.

What background in soft porn? Sport newspapers?
Oh my lord! Karren was Tiffany in Tiffany's Big City Tips, wasn't she?

Karren's comments are not like a brattish five-year-old and those who choose to see it differently to you do not have an IQ below 50. You don't speak for anyone but yourself. If anyone is being like a brattish five-year-old for not accepting the opinion of others and trying to insult them, it's you.

Every one of Alan Sugar's assistant's have been highly critical of the candidates on the edit we see. Furthermore, Alan Sugar goes much further with insults and criticism than his any of assistants.

Karren is regularly fatuous and supercilious. We can reasonably expect more from someone with her apparent experience.

Another very good example - what value did she add by saying that? Pathetic and she should be ashamed of herself for not making a meaningful contribution.
Well he's looking for a business partner.

How is what she said unhelpful?

Well, if she is regularly fatuous and supercilious - so are/were Claude Littner, Margaret Mountford and Nick Hewer. Karren is just doing what the programme makers want her to do. That's why she's been on The Apprentice for a long time.

Her job is not to make them feel good but to notice when something with a price of £20 was sold by some idiot for £10 for example....the show is pretty much a show telling you how to get it wrong. I'd bet some of her more scathing attacks are filmed after she's had chance to review it again just to confirm how daft some of the candidates are.

A lot simpler for you to just say you don't like her instead of making it up as you go along.

It would be useful if occasionally Karren would point something out that we haven't all already spotted. Otherwise, why do we need her extensive business experience of over 30 years?

True and why single Karren out when Claude does exactly the same thing?!

And still at it by the looks of things.

That may well the case - I did not watched the first few.

But she was there doing the interviews when I started watching.

Quite - the poster just does not like her it would seem for some reason.

Might be a disgruntled West Ham fan

I noticed that every time LS adresses the teams she is either standing with her hands in her pockets or her arms stiffly folded.

Well done this week Karren:

Sour faces pulled: 5

Snidey sarcastic remarks, adding no value: 7

Stating the obvious that a 10 year old would spot: 3

Incisive and invaluable analysis using 30 years of business experience: 0

Really? I wonder how long the 'Concerned Cuppa at the Greasy spoon' takes to film.

LOL!

Although judging by the latest rant it seems like professional intervention might be necessary.
