Ranking the DS article on the Multi Doctors
Seriously DS? Time Crash better than Three, Two or Five Doctors episode? What are you smoking? Time Crash was only a five min piece. It seems another lets put down the classic era article and No Day isnt the best Multi Doctor episode either.
Its Mediocre. |

Perhaps my age showing but I would have put The Five Doctors first. A massive TV event in it's day and great fun to watch. It also gave us former companions as well as former Doctors, which Day of the Doctor didn't.

I like the 5 Doctors, but personally, it may be an age thing, but day of the Doctor is the best for me. In fact, I know it's an age thing really, because Multi Doc specials that don't include the Doctors of my time are never going to rank above the one that does, and I'd be lying to pretend otherwise. I'd suspect that it's also an age thing for a lot of older people as well though, as the nostalgia of what a big event things were at there time, and the age you were then, definitely seems to have an effect on most people's rankings. What I mean by that is, if you gave people all the multi Doc specials now to watch, with them having never seen them before, and judging them on quality alone with no nostalgia involvement, I suspect at least some people's ranking of them would change. besides, I also like Day because you get an appearance from every doctor in the best way it could viably be done, and it was a grand story, if not a completely perfect story. No other story can boast 13 Doctors on screen all working together. The two Doctors is a multi doctor story from classic who which I enjoyed because I feel it's unique in how understated it is. Its basically a normal episode which happens to have two incarnations in, rather than some fanfair event. Would be great if they could just put one former incarnation into an episode these days just in a mid series episode, without it having to be a major event. Quote:

Then of course, there is the great shame that the ultimate representative and bridging character of both new who and classic who - Sarah Jane Smith was not able to appear for obvious untimely reasons. I suspect they would definitely have asked her if she'd still been around. |

The Three Doctors for me. Pertwee and Troughton come just under Tom Baker as my favourite Doctors and they made a perfect contrasting duo. Omega was also a very fun villain.
Got to be honest, I've never been too keen on The Five Doctors. It was nice seeing some of the older Doctor Who characters crop up again and get together, but it was just that. It wasn't really a very interesting story and was a little too cramped with characters. |

I think in terms of story The Three Doctors works best because after the initial meeting of all the Doctors in the first episode, the story itself is the main focus. This story could with a few tweaks been a one Doctor story and been just as good.
I still prefer The Five Doctors as it was from my fave era of the show. Okay, in story terms not as strong but I love the nostalgia of it. Even when watching it now, you just feel the celebration feel of the story 30 years on. The Two Doctors, do like the story but due to the nature of it, I feel Troughton's Doctor was somewhat restricted a bit after the opening scenes in Episode One. A lot of this could have been due to his age and health at the time so I make allowances but I would love to have had more scenes of him and the Sixth Doctor together. Time Crash is just brilliant and funny in it's own right and the less said about The Day Of The Doctor the better!

5,3 then Day for me. If day had included Ecclestone and McGann it would likely have been no 1.
Time crash I don't really count that anyway I'd put it in the same envelope as the Jimmy Saville episode as having any sort of Who importance. And Dimensions isn't great but it's not quite as bad as it's made out to be. |
